How can it be harder than biking at high heart rate, if that is indeed hard on a conditioned person? If you pace yourself while shoveling or use a HRM to regulate yourself, why should it be any harder on your heart?

Back, perhaps, but I think there are bending techniques that are better than others.

And now having read it, it seems Wogster's evolved it into a craft, complete with a personalized quiver of tools!

Sears has some great pushers ...

Does your snow blower spit or swallow?

Disclaimer: don't blame me for making a blue response to a blue thread title.

I think maybe you should rig a plow to the front of your bike. You then could combine riding and clearing your driveway. Not only would it help to save the environment but it could save you from posting potentially embarassing thread titles.

But, seriously, like any heavy exercise, of whatever stripe, it has to be done right and with consideratin for the person's physical condition or a person can get hurt.

Dang, Denver, you are SUCH a good sandbagger! Didn't a Heinlein character say something like, "Age and guile can beat youth and strength any day."

Drat! I recently spent 850 bucks on a brand new, two stage, fancy a** snowblower and all we've had is 1" of light snow followed by a day of 40* weather with no snow predicted in the near future. The last 4 years we have averaged 60-100 inches of snow and as I've a long driveway that drifts badly and I've respect for person of my years, I thought be sensible! Make it easy and save the energy for the bike. You'd think that I would know better by now. I should have bought a new shovel first!

850 bucks to make it stop snowing sounds like a pretty good investment to me.
