More "Eye Candy"... Show us your Red Bikes!!

I'm in fairly good spirits this evening and February, the Valentine month, is rapidly aproaching so let's show off our red bikes this month!! I'll start by pulling some photos from my archives. I've got to warn you though, some of these are very old pictures. We do however still own all the bikes depicted in this post.

Here's our old Huffy Tandem (the red one). This was the first tandem we ever owned. We bought it used and it was quite well worn at the time, but we had a lot of fun on it anyway. It's a big heavy tank with a coaster brake. The bike is still out in the garage just in case one of the daughters wants to take over possession of it some day.

Here is a picture taken along the Erie Canal a couple of years ago featuring my lovely wife's Sun X-1 and my maroon and silver Sun EZ Sport.

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/IMG_1912.jpg

The bike looked better with her on it, don't ya think?

Here's a real oldie. This is us on Mackinac Island back in 1983(ish) with our Schwinn Varsities. Mine's long gone but her 1976 Varsity is in pristine condition, showing 1,475 miles on the mechanical speedometer, and hanging from the rafters out in the garage.

So O.K., lets get rolling here. Let's see some nice red bikes!!

Does blue pink and red qualify? The KHS has undergone a lot of changes in the 10 years I have had her after picking her up at a garage sale for ten bucks. I had an old Schwinn that had gone back to the earth and the last salvageable items were these fenders. The stays were even rusted out but that Chicago paint had kept the fenders looking good for 40 years. I made new stays from aluminum strip stock and mounted them for a trial fit with every intent of painting them black, (even bought paint) The old red appealed to my lack of taste and I thought it looked great with the blue and pink and black and white and silver. So I left them alone.

I have 3 other old red Schwinn’s but they are reduced to frames for projects at this time and are barn hanging.

The only other road ready red is my Cannondale. It’s a very deep red.

My first and only mountain bike. Bridgestone MB-1 bought new in 1986. I've taken care of it and it's taken care of me commuting and having fun. This is a recent photo:

It has two wheels and it is red:D It's just missing some gears, etc.

The picture is from their website as I don't seem to be able to locate my pictures of it and it's currently hanging from the rafters in the garage.

My grandkids think it's cool that I have a "scooter" to ride:)

Ya know, if you get an eccentric rear wheel for that thing, you can propel it by jumping up and down on it.:D

Hi,

Red is my favorite color and I wish I had more red bikes than just this one:

For some reason, I have more white bikes than any other color and that is my least favorite color for a bike because it is so hard to keep clean.

The way she looked when I sold her last year:

Sneaking in... :)

It still looks factory fresh.

My old red bike just turned 61 so even if I am a few hairs short to play here, it is definately 50 plus.

OK, we''l overlook you sneaking in since your bike qualifies. Fixed or coaster? Cool looking ride either way.

It is really a bit of a beater... I liken it to Archie's old jalopy.

My dearly departed Bridgestone RB-1 was red originally, but I repainted her blue and white later on. My only red bike now is the tandem.

Don't know how I ended up with three red bikes; red isn't even one of my favorite colors.:o

The red and yellow Trek looks like it could be the poster bike for McDonald's. (I actually really like that color combo).

:lol:I should get some huge clown shoes and fix SPD cleats to 'em.

That color scheme, as you know, was popular in the '80's including the Benotto bar tape. I even use clips and straps sometimes in place of the SPD's shown.:50:

My mostly red, with black and silver, Giant Defy 2. I don't know how much longer I will have this bike as I just bought a new Colnago (white in color) and really don't have any place to put this one.

Looks like a Cannondale seat bag on it. I love those bags.
