My new Specialized Epic Expert Carbon 29er. Just picked up this baby today. Weighs out at 25.6#, not too bad for a large frame.

2004 Specialized E5 Aerotec
Saw this frame on eBay and had to have it. Researched and learned that this frame was used by the Italian National Team to win the 2002 World Road Racing Championship and by Domina-Vicanze to win the 2002 Milan-San Remo. I figured that if it was good enough for Mario Cipollini it was good enough for me.
I built it up myself and tried my best at every turn to be frugal on component purchases. I paid about $60 for my MicroShift shifters and they work great. I also paid less than $100 for a new FSA Gossamer crank set that also works flawlessly.

I am Back:
Unable to loose the weight. Pie, Hot Dog, and Fish N Chips Rides are the problem.
I promised The White BMC I won't ride it until I lost the weight.
Internet supplier Lowered The Price the the remaining BMC's.
I contacted them asking for a price with No Wheels.
They replied it was a package deal, and offered an extra discount.
Arrived today: The Red BMC.
Going to ride this one to loose the weight.
Wife already had much to say about it.

I love the way it was packed! You'd almost expect shrink wrap.
Pretty bike!

It is all on that one piece of card board. They each come with a bottle of touch up paint, front and rear reflectors, 6 wheel reflectors, front and rear lights, and a bell.
Weighted 208 lb this AM.
Put it together. Now time to ride.

I was wondering if I read your post right, until I saw your pictures of both bikes. It must be nice to have money.

I posted it in my N -1 +1 thread, but here is my 2012 N+1.
Since I took the pic, I had to replace the chainrings, which it turns out were also damaged. So that area now looks like this.
The new chainrings are Rotor's oblong "Q-rings", which create higher gearing when you are in the power part of your pedal stroke, and lower gearing when you are not. When properly setup, you don't feel anything different, but generate greater power. So far, so good.
I'm really enjoying the bike. It is noticeably lighter, and clearly stiffer, than the Madone 5.2 it replaced (this is a Madone 700 series, or "6.9" frame), without feeling any more harsh. As I've been racing every weekend, I haven't ridden it for more than 40 miles so far, but that will be rectified this weekend, when I get in some long base with significant climbs. I know the performance is there - this will be the first true comfort test.
I'm gradually adjusting to the significantly greater bar drop I have now when just cruising on my commute or doing easy base miles. It's not an issue when racing or otherwise going for speed, as I'm trying to get as low as possible then and it facilitates that quite nicely. Having that drop when cruising slow, combined with having also moved my saddle further forward, means the only position I have where my hands and arms are fully relaxed is to straighten up and ride no-hands. So far that's fine, and I haven't had any hand, wrist or shoulder issue. But again, I haven't really tested it on a long ride, so we'll see on Saturday. If this bike abuses me in the 5 hour range, I doubt I'll change anything to relax my position, I'll just ride the Gunnar on really long base rides and non-race centuries. The speed advantages with the more aggressive position are just too great to give up, and I'm not going to start adding and removing spacers or changing stems based on the nature of the day's ride.
Now I need a TT bike!

I went out for night ride on Red Rider. (21 miles)
Added a flashlight rubberband to the bars and a PBSF to the seat post.
No computer or pump. just stayed in the neighborhood.
Street Racer it is. Could not believe how responsive it was and the great brakes.
Can't wait to add a a computer and fly down the road.
700 X 20 tires, Fizik Aliante Sport saddle

10 Wheels,
I like the silver cages. They really offset the red on your bike.
So, when you get down to the target weight to ride the white bike, what are you going to do with the red one?

I was looking at that exact same bike when I got my Colnago. I really liked the red and white but the bike did not feel as comfortable as the Ace. Not much difference in price, either. Now that I have just over 1,000 miles on the bike, I think I made the right choice.

I finally did it. Since riding wasn't making anything worse, I pulled the trigger and bought a 2012 Defy 1.
