Club Tomay - my Australian episode. Your vote/opinion SVP.
In June 2011 I flew into SYD and put my touring bike together and then had to go thru Aussie customs and quarantine to get my Bob Ibex "inspected" because it came in as air-cargo. No matter that it cost $500 CAD for airfreight, brokerage and quarantine charges PLUS several days.., once released the next day we started off to Central RR station to catch the Indian Pacific to Adelaide to start our tour back to Sydney.
We rode on the Sydney sidewalks when we could because of the traffic. I crossed at a set of lights and then tried to squeeze between a fence and the traffic guard rail and leaned to the left.. You guessed it! Tombe!. The force on the rear axle (from the Bob) combined with some sand on the sidewalk and leaning to the left did it. Total bumb-over-teakettle fall on my left side
A brand new pair of MEC windpants was torn at the knee and some blood from the scraped knee..... A few choice words about my not taking enough care... It was the only pair of pants I brought to OZ
Fortunately the Ortlieb panniers were not damaged, nor was the bike, nor was the Bob. That was the first time in years that I fell (1969 in my Canadian CCM single-speed) and the last time since. Mind you the bike has fallen over parked with the Bob attached when the front wheel turns (from pointing straight ahead) and
Now, folks, how can I self-inflict myself with a C.T. certificate?

Good to go in my opinion. Every Tombay is a learning experience.

Wouldn't this be a retro-active Tombay award. I thought there was a restriction on that type. We want the "news as it happens" type of response, don't we. Althought it sounds like it was a legit Tombay.
