Cycling before shopping can lead to .... lots of food!
I'm just back in a torrential rainstorm from the market.
I know you shouldn't shop when you're hungry. So I rode my bike 2 1/2 hours this morning, had a glass of liquid yogurt and went shopping. I think we'll be ok for duck pate, goose fat, green apple pork sausages, leg of pork, lamb shanks and lamb cubes, rib eye, chicken jalfrezi and hot cross buns. And brussels sprouts with bacon. And melon with goat cheese. And hot sesame oil. And zucchini with shallots. And spinach with red onions and almonds. Oh, and fresh anchovies for the new-potato and cos nicoise Hope so, anyway. R&B and cookery now. Celery sprout and potato soup, lamb korma with macedoine, I think. Maybe sauteed apple with lemon zest, sugar and cinnamon. Just as well petrol's free;) (Clearly, this is gluttony, but it should last a month. I cook for the freezer on weekends) |
I can think of at least one other thing that shouldn't be done before shopping.:innocent: I had a friend once do so and he ended up buying a lot of food, some of which was actually edible. The next day his only comment was "man it all looked so good!"

Supermarkets don't help much either. Walked into town this morning and as I approached the supermarket- all I could smell was fresh bread. I suddenly became hungry and nearly went in to buy a Bun to eat on the way home. EXCEPT it would not just have been "One" bun though.
Wonder how many casual sales would be made if the smell was from the Fish Counter or the 3 day old smell of trimmed cabbage waiting to be disposed of. |
