A life changing experience.
I have never taken much stock in luck and I never buy Lottery tickets. I can't speak for my bride though.
Yep. A few weeks ago she purchased a Scratch-Off and she actually won some money. We spent quite awhile pondering our options and have decided on the following. Though her winnings aren't overly substantial, they will pay for Health Insurance premiums for the next several years. We have decided that my pension combined with our savings will support us very comfortably and she will pay for our Health Insurance from her winnings. On Monday April 2nd, we're launching our first enterprise. We're calling it Monroe County Bicycle Guides. I'll do the riding and guiding and she will provide cold refreshments at rest stops along the routes if desired. I will keep enough tools and spare parts in my B.O.B. trailer to handle most roadside repairs. I've been a lifelong student of local History and I hope to provide enjoyable scenic rides with just a bit of local history and folk lore mixed in. I've been toying with this idea for a long time and I'm anxious to get started. Advertising will be through area Chambers of Commerce, a Web Site, and area bicycle shops. So it's bye bye Kodak and hello open road!! :) Oh yeah, I'm now a firm believer in the New York Lottery phrase "A dollar and a dream". I'll be sure to provide the links once I get them set up. EDIT: 04/01/2012, 06:15 p.m. APRIL FOOLS JOKE!!, see post #21 for more info. |
Good for you Dude.
|
Awesome! May the wind be at your back
|
Really cool! Best wishes to you and you're wife on the new adventure.
|
That's wonderful! Contact the NY state board of tourism too, maybe they have some sort of program to help promote your type of service/business.
|
There's a fellow based in St louis who does that. I think that his company name is "Mostly Bikes".
If you haven't already, you might check with Elder Hostel. They do those type of events - they have a lot of rules, though. |
One door closes, another opens. Damn, sometimes that's true! Happy for you and your bride.
|
Wow, Cranky, that is fantastic news and truly is a life changing experience! Sounds like pennies from heaven. I am so happy for you and Mrs. Cranky! Things have a way of working out, don't they?

Hey this ain't a April fools thing is it :( Sorry folks but this was indeed an April Fools Joke. :D I'm still employed at the Chemical Plant. The only prize my wife won was me on her wedding day, though the quality of her good fortune on that particular event has often been questioned. I have not started up a Bicycle Tour Guide business. However I do truely intend to rent myself out as a bicycle guide some time in the future and the many helpful suggestions mentioned in this thread are going into my notebook for when that eventful day arrives. Thank you all for the good wishes and I hope I haven't upset anyone too much with this little prank. |

You have an evil soul, Cranky.
:) |
Karma dictates that you will get at least two flats on your next ride.
