I like my stiffy!
Was thinking of going N+1 with a sexy carbon frame, but have decided I really love my stiffy.

My stiffy... My aluminum frame Specialized Sectuer. Thats my bikes new name "Stiffy"
They say aluminum is too stiff, so therefore my bikes name is now "Stiffy" I think that is a very appropriate name for him. I have also changed my bikes gender to a male. Thats my perogative isn't it? ( spell check on perogative please! )

No man; No! My bikes name is Stiffy, because he is made out of aluminum which is know in the cycling world as a stiff build. And, all I am saying is I am very happy with my Stiffy... The sexiness of an N+1 carbon build is very tempting, but I think I'll just keep riding my Stiffy.

I have a mostly AL roadie, Defy 1. The forks are carbon and so is the seatpost--both are supposed to make the ride better by absorbing some of the vibration from the road. I like what I have...then again, I never did test an all carbon...had to save some money somewhere so I could get an N+1.

I love aluminum frames. My Raleigh Technium PRE rocks. But I'll refrain from referring to it as a stiffy when among others that dont even understand biking.

So you like riding your Stiffy .
Saw your thread on the Road forum, I ride a Moots Compact Ti bike, it's not flexy at all some say it's too stiff. I've raced it in crits and ridden centuries on it. Now my Alu Van Dessel track bike is stiff, but it's suppose to be.

You must be single.
Really though, you prefer the road buzz?? Live a little, take some new bikes for a spin. Doesn't cost anything to test ride. Try carbon, and try steel and Ti if you can. You might be presently surprised.

I rode alum for years and loved it...until I built my carbon. you should try one out at a shop that will let you take it out for 10 miles or so. some of the feel will come from the particular wheelset but you will notice the aluminum bounce for sure.

I did test ride a carbon Roubaix before I bought the alum Sectuer and I must confess I really liked the carbon. One day I will probably upgrade to a full carbon.

Canadian, actually ... Cove (bikes and bike shop ... the original 'North Shore' company) in Vancouver. However, they do give their bikes slightly risque names: Stiffee, Handjob, G-Spot, Hummer ... !
