I ride urban bike paths from my front door. When I want to do rural rides I have to drive about 7 miles in one of two directions for my starting off point. While urban biking doesn't bother me suburban biking does. The bike paths to where I want to go are glorified sidewalks with a lot of side streets and entrances and exits from parking lots. These folks are not looking for bicycles! :notamused:

I drive a Ranger pickup with a topper and the road bike gets loaded in the back for the trip. No worries about security and the only problem is that the bike can get a little dusty.

Not mine, I bet. I got a rack because of having to remove not only the front wheel, but the seat and post in order to get my bike in a car. Size matters, I guess.

I'd love to have my bike inside the vehicle, but doing that would require buying a van.

when I am alone, the bike goes inside my small car (KIA Rio5). When I have more than one bike, I have a roof rack that can carry 4 bikes (3 is easier). It looks pretty funny when it is loaded with 4 bikes...

I think my bike is a little smaller than yours but I have tried many vehicles over the years and you never know which ones it will fit into. I've had it in a 2006 Grand Prix, a Subaru wagon, and a 2005 Impala, to name a few. Oddly, it won't fit in a newer Impala with the seat in place because the shock towers are closer together.
It fits easily in the '86 Blazer without taking the front wheel off.

I ride to the start of club rides. They usually start at the bike shop which is just around the corner from my house. Other than starting at the bike shop the club rides start at the local temple. Only a short scenic ride away from my house. Why would anyone in this stituation want to drive?
