Clothing Guidelines

Shamelessly taken from another bulletin board

Many of us over 50 . . . WAY over 50 . . . or on the way to 50 . . . are
quite confused about how we should present ourselves. We're unsure about the
kind of image we are projecting and whether or not we are correct as we try
to conform to current fashions.

Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO
NOT go together and should be avoided:

1. A nose ring and bifocals

2. Spiked hair and bald spots

3. A pierced tongue and dentures

4. Miniskirts and support hose

5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads

6. Speedo's and cellulite

7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar

8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor

9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge

10. Pierced nipples that hang below the waist

11. Bikinis and liver spots

12. Short shorts and varicose veins

13. In-line skates and a walker

And the ultimate 'Bad Taste' in fashion :

14. Thongs and Depends

Please keep these basic guidelines foremost in your mind when you shop.

...especially when she's wearing the miniskirt and he's wearing the support hose! :twitchy:

Perhaps this would be the ideal way to "fit" a saddle?

Laserman 06-13-12 10:22 PM

I would have to burn that seat.

I don't care what people wear. Think about it for a moment. "Society" decides what looks right? This is the same society that once thought women and African-Americans should be subservient, not vote, etc. How clothing looks is the least of my concerns.

David Bierbaum 06-14-12 06:51 AM

Man! No thongs and depends?! What am I going to do now?

leob1 06-14-12 07:26 AM

Does the thong go on under or over the Depends?

If you have to ask, then...

Oh gees. What in the world does that have to do with 50+ people looking like dorks? The post was humorous. Try to develop some yourself.
If you want to wear a thong and Depends, by all means go ahead.

Why don't you go protest against countries that STILL do those things you mentioned instead of trying to start something by bringing up the long since passed.

Dudelsack 06-14-12 08:24 AM

This brings up a very serious issue. Very serious, at least for me.

I'm a firm believer that no middle aged male should wear shorts that don't cover the entire thigh. When I ride my bent, I often wear gym shorts that cover my thighs when I am standing. However, when I ride the shorts slip up, showing the majority of my toned, muscular thighs.

Is that so wrong?

A soon to be retired coworker sends humors’ stuff via email, this was today’s offering.
I find it fitting to this thread. Enjoy(?)

"6. Speedo's and cellulite" (Cycle Bib's and a beer gut) Guilty!

John_V 06-14-12 09:56 AM

Love the list! It made my day. :thumb:

Dude, that's just wrong.

Please cease snooping in my closet!

Dorks? According to who? You? If you want to waste your time with stupid stuff be my guest but don't tell me how to react or what to think.

BTW you have no idea about my sense of humor or who I am. Think about it the next time you attack someone personally.

I had no idea my American style of clothing pegs me as a slave-owning wife-beating witch-burning Neanderthal. Thank you SO much for clearing that up. It was such a good point, and in such an appropriate setting

It doesn't. Of course you can take it personally if you'd like but it's not what I said or implied. The point is that I'm not interested in adhering to other people's guidelines about what is appropriate to wear. Or, for that matter, what is morally correct. If you are content to let others create the guidelines for what you wear or how you act that's your choice. And, I support you.

I can see that. If I looked like you and Danny Devito I'd feel the same.

I'm pretty cool with that, actually.

@DG- they have laws against stuff like that, and I don't want to get into trouble.

I look much better after a few Irish Whiskey's. (Notice the totally appropriate attire for a 66 yr. old guy. It was approved by the CT Fashion Police.)
