Every good wish to you, BD.
Sorry to learn there are still medical troubles - I hope you can brush them off.

(I thought I was going to join you and others in the demanding world of post employment. Not yet, it appears. (Questionable boss aside, me replacing. Not sure how interested I am. Just cashy cashy)

Congratulations BD! I hope retirement is very rewarding for you.

I am now retired too! After 25 years with the University of Wisconsin. I loved that job for many years, but getting through the last two were a struggle for me. Had planned to work a couple more years but then decided I just wasn't up for it.

I plan on taking a few months to work around the house and yard too. Get a lot of things in order. Enjoy a lot of time off to de-stress. Hope to travel a bit as I have daughters living in California, Ohio, and North Carolina. Good chance I will return to part-time work ... sometime. For now, that isn't a priority. I've been working full-time for 36 years and I will apologize to no one for taking some time off.

Congratulations.

Now get out from in front of the monitor and get to work!

Congratulations to you too, Mr. Bombadil!

I'm at 28 years of service to society myself and dig all of the factors that went in to your decision. I suspect it is the right one. Best wishes from another hippie from Dixie.

I just completed two years of retirement. 31 years with Verizon and the many name changes that came with the job. Thankfully we were a union place which gives me a nice retirement check and full health care. SSI next year at 62 will keep me comfortable as I age.

Congratulations to you. Enjoy your pension and any other benefits you get. We earned every penny.

Congrats BD, and Tom Bombadil as well! Best wishes to you in your futures. I will try not to be too jealous!

Does your city have a bike repair collective? As an X-hippie, you might start one and enjoy that even more than working in a regular bike shop...:)
