Had such a great time at the Death Ride in Marleeville, CA last year the I'm going back for a second helping of hurt. A friend of mine from Durham, NC will be joining me in the sufferfest. We're going out a few days early to do a few recon rides then tackle all 130+ miles on Saturday the 14th. Anyone from this group going to be there?

I haven't done the DR since the local "officials" hijacked the ride from the club that used to run it. It's a great ride, lots of fun. I kind of miss it...

Well, another Death Ride under my saddle, 9 hrs. & 3 min. ride time. A touch better than last year, but better than I expected given this years level of training. Weather was almost perfect, a bit warm from Woodfords to the top of Carson Pass. The usual headwind from the base of Ebbets to Woodfords, though I found a group to make it bearable. Volunteers did the usual fantastic job, and many of us riding who were stopped for supplies at the top of Ebbets Pass agreed that we should have pulled the guy riding the unicycle there off the contraption and beaten him to "Death" right there at the summit. ;-)

Congrats on a fantastic performance. Our weather on the Peninsula was perfect for cycling.

Holy crapoly!
It's funny, my wife & I did the Death Ride once (2010) and while we were doing it we kept meeting all these riders who had done it numerous times before...and we kept thinking "why in god's name would anyone want to do this again?!?!"
But then the very next morning we woke up, looked at each other, and said "We should do that again!"
So we'll probably go back. But nine times? Wow...
We're from New York City, and it was almost embarassing how many people were coming up to us and saying how impressed they were that we'd come so far for the Death Ride (we were both wearing New York Cycle Club jerseys so it was pretty obvious). I guess I'm kinda surprised there aren't more folks from the East Coast doing it...it's not like there's anything remotely equivalent on our end of the continent!
