Yesterday was close for me. I was getting too hot, and it was a reminder that I have run into this before even in my younger days. This time I shortened the ride (41 was probably too far) and found lots of OJ and water and recovered in a few hours. I also use Endurolytes by breaking them up into my water bottle. I second the "be careful" message. Now I just have to be smart enough to remember to be careful myself. Today was a shorter ride.

Becoming acclimated is so important - but with heat waves like this acclimation either hasn't had time to happen, or it's just too doggoned hot. I suspect the latter in your part of the country right now. Rode today at 84 degrees today - first ride here at home of any distance in warm weather, I was whipped when I got home. Pretty much worthless the rest of the day - I am waaay far from acclimated to even moderate temps.

Wed. and Thur.did 2 25 milers before the heat of the day.Enjoyed them both immensely.

Being the 6th day of riding and the other 5 days being 35½ to 36½ miles each day, the humidity and heat must've sapped my endurance. Only did 26 this morning with the last 1/3 not being very great. The Headsweats headband was sopping wet--as was everything else.

Thursday the heat and humidity were full bore here. Only the slight south breeze off of the gulf cooled things just enough to make you wish you were through and back home in the A/C. No afternoon Thunderstorm yesterday so it never had a cool down period. I was thoroughly soaked when I got home, the ceiling fan felt nice blowing on my legs. My jersey and shorts walked into the laundry room by them selves. Only had to beat them once.
