I dont have the premium subscription to Strava but I gotta say that if I did, today would've been right up there. Felt great on the first leg of the 30mi going as hard as I could with no regard to the ride back. Set a PR, rested a few moments in the heat and then paid the piper for the ride back. I'm still wiped out.

That's already posted in the thread and it's a score nobody will beat. It's on page one I think but I did not post the name of the non-sufferer. It's a good topic though, but some sort of criteria for distance will be needed, e.g. lowest score for a 20 miler, a century, etc.

Mannnn..... (in a whiny tone of voice), that's about a month of suffering for me lately. I had a 129 recently for a 40 miler and felt pretty good about it. Your SUM score for that ride is impressive too: 4.6 if my calculations are correct.

On my last "event", only about 50% of the riders who started the event managed to finish it. Most of those dropped did so in the first 24 hours although there was a steady trickle of DNF's over the next 2.5 days. I don't use Strava but it would be interesting to see if it even qualifies as suffering using their metrics.

my highest suffer score is rated 'near death experience', and hurts a LOT!
out-of-body experience has yet to be experienced.

50+ sufferers take heart. Here's a recent ride by a noteworthy pro, Joe Dombrowski. Very meager suffering by our high standards!

Resurrecting this near-Zombie thread:
SS of 175 on the Marin 100K, 3.1 suffers/mile. There was not much true suffering involved. I didn't actually cramp, but was darn tired at the end; noticeable lack of wattage on the last climb and a pitiful 14.5 mph average. I could have gone a bit harder, but have very little 100K experience on a single bike.

This is mine if running counts. I don't have any good suffer scores on the bike yet.

192 for 12 mile run.

SUM = 16

245 for a hilly 79 mile Strava challenge. 54% of that ride was in tempo.

365 for a half marathon I ran in.

Hey, if the zombie thread has been reserected, I get to comment that I rode the early part of the ride with Joe (had no idea who he was at the time). No suffer score from me since I'm not a premium subscriber and don't have a heart monitor. https://www.strava.com/activities/26257863

I'm having way too much fun on my bike to suffer.

But can't yu ramp up the suffer score by simply changing the thresholds on HR so that Strava think you're spending more time in Maximum HR?

When I turned in a suffer score of 261, it was rated as "epic".

How would a suffer score of 900+ be rated? Kamikaze? Death wish?

My "931" only rates epic. But if I were in charge I'd rate it "stupid"

What I don't get is why I got a lower score for this ride, which was harder and longer.

It should actually have been higher, but the Garmin's battery ran out 38 hard miles from the end.
