Handle bar too thick for a bell

I bought a nice bell for the bike, but turns out the handle bar is much thicker than the included bracket. I tried a zip tie but it kept jiggling and turning around. Any suggestion? can you recommend a good bell that has a wide enough bracket? Thanks a bunch.

You running 31.8 bars?

I don't know what that is. Sorry! but the handle bar is wider as you get closer to the stem, and in the thinner outer part there is already brake handles.

Sounds like you're running flat bars. Google search for the 31.8 handlebar bell returns Origin8 pingxl and dimension mini.

There are probably others also.

Bells, Bells,.......we don't need no stinkin' bells!

My LBS ordered me a stem mount brass bell. Sorry, forgot the brand.

I use zipties to keep the 'stuff', including bells, on the bars if the bracket is too small. The secret is to get the ziptie as tight as possible, with out breaking it. You can buy a tool just to tighten zipties, or use a fourth hand tool, or use what you have, needlenose plies work well, to hold the buckle or the ziptie, and another pair of pliers to pull it tight. I'd say I have a 90+% success rate with this, YMMV.
The fourth hand makes it quick and easy.
And BTW, in my state, NJ, it is a legal requirement to have a bell or other warning device on your bike.

This is the bell I use on my Madone. Nice bell and it is a much better bell than the other incred-i-bell type I have (small black type). The lever doesn't swing around the bell, this one stays in place so there is never any fudging around, it's exactly where you expect it to be.

I found mine at an REI shop. ;)

Seems the style has changed but it will fit the oversized 31.8 hb's according to the specs.

Or . . . you could fit one of those FSA Control Center things. They fit a 31.8 bar but have a cylindrical shaft for mounting much smaller dia. components such as bike computers, lights, bells, etc.

Mine's on the vertical part of the stem. Works fine. I rarely use the bell anyway, but it's there if anyone asks.
