I'm not sure if we have any members who are familiar with your area. But, if not, you may want to check with a local bike shop (LBS). Most, (at least those who are serious about cycling) will be able to point you in the right direction...

The good news is that mountain bike is pretty flexible - so you should have a lot of options...

Best of luck

Don't know Texas but I have come across a few trails that are relatively flat but offer a real challenge. In fact some of the local Flat trails to the hills offer a real challenge to negotiate en route to the hills so just because you have no mountains don't think that you are not going to be challenged- have a fun time or not put enough into offroad to get fit. Mountain biking is hard.

Welcome aboard. I don't do that mountain bike stuff, but I'm sure you'll find routes to ride...

Tx hill country is about as close as you will find any decent climbing. As a training sub. use wind power. Find local, long and straight roads and then check weather/wind directions. Riding into a 15mph headwind will do wonders. And you have pleanty of wind.

Welcome to 50+ and to BF. You might want to check the regional forums in the top sector of the forums page. Finding locals in your area may be a bit easier there. We have several Texas members in the 50+, I'm sure others will reply, as CTPRES did. Hope you find an LBS that suits you and the specific type of riding you want to do. shops usually are in tune with the MTB trails in an area, as said above Texas Hill country is probably the closest to you. Best of luck in finding some good trails.

Bill

I haven't ridden them myself, but I hear many folks praising the mountain bike trails at Memorial Park. That's a good ways from Texas City, but it might be worth toting the bike up there and checking out.

There are some good links at the bottom of this page , as well.https://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail...lid=BGS082-041

Our area is all flat with winds except for bridges.

Dickinson Bayou Bridge is your best bet.

I do not recommend it for a new rider.

The North Bound Side is Very Scary for a new rider.

Dave on The South Bound Side.

Good thought there. And welcome Kathymarie... go out and ride lots and you'll get fit and strong!
