The Wisdom(?) of Relative Youth
My #1 son is in his mid-30's, what we thought of as middle-aged when we were young. He broke his hip in a hard racing crash 4-1/2 weeks ago. A rod in his femur and a few screws later he's been on the trainer for a week. He took his first actual ride today, 16.5 miles. I think his wife is aghast. I'm pleased he's mending so well, but maybe a bit more pain would have kept him off the bike a bit longer. Thank goodness the racing season is coming to a close.

That thing we ride is spelled: A D D I C T I O N
.... Not even middle age can cure it... |
Here's hoping they repaired his femur in time so he's not facing a hip replacement anytime soon.

It's hard watching our children turn into adults, get hurt, and jump back into that which hurt them. He must have a passion that even pain can't extinguish. He's lucky on two counts. 1. He has a passion. 2. He has people who care enough about him to worry.
