By now you're all well aware that I'm retiring. I worked my last full shift on Friday night and will enter and leave the Plant one final time on Wednesday the 31st.

It hasn't stopped raining since I got out of work just before dawn on Saturday. Sandy, billed as our biggest storm ever, is just now rolling in. She's going to be just in time to join forces with a wintry storm coming in from the west and a cold arctic front sliding down from Canada.

It appears that my retirement has angered the Fair Weather Gods, so I guess it's time we all trade our bikes in for Hobie Kayaks!!

Just sayin'.

Don't worry Cranky, After an unknown amount of death and destruction, Sandy too will pass. Then you will have all of your time available to dedicate to your bikes.

Don't sell them! . . . although a Kayak may be useful for the next week or so.

Now I'm wondering, has anyone somewhere modified a bicycle with a snowmobile-style ski on the front? :)

Well you have something to mark your retirement now. You will be saying "I left back in '12 when the big one hit".:)

From what I can see- providing the weather calms down-I would keep those bikes for a few weeks. For a few days roads will be impassable to cars and a bike would seem to be the only form of transport except walking.

Next time you retire- give us better warning.:innocent:

You seem to have upset the gods by stopping work and they doing everything possible to stop that last Commute home from work. Never mind-- you can do it next week instead.:eek:

I am determined to get a virtual ride in for you on the Wednesday, the 31st. This will be the first time I've been able to ride since Saturday. It's driving me nuts not to be able to get on the bike. And yes, we DO blame you for angering the Gods with your retirement, ;) :p :innocent:.
