I got out this morning for a "Stretch The Legs" ride of 26 miles. Lots of water lying about but NO RAIN. Temp of 38f that soon warmed up in the Sun but stayed way down in the shade.

So what did you manage ?

This is our "Gathering of the Clan" day for the holidays. It should be fun. It's too cold and snowy out for us sissies to ride anyway.

Thirty minutes on the trainer this morning. Granted, that's not very long, but I'm not a morning person so I have a hard time getting up much before 6 AM to work out. So, 30 minutes on the bike and then off to work for the day (24-hr shift). Happy New Year.

Rained out. Probably wipe down the bike. I think I do a superficial chain and cassette cleaning with WD-40, a rag/towels, and re-lube.

20f this morning, I just cancelled my morning ride with a friend. I might do a short solo ride this afternoon if it warms for 25f and is sunny.

I was thinking about going for a ride before my darling bride got out of bed this morning. Got dressed and opened the garage door and it was drizzling rain (not even enough to dignify with the word sprinkle). Since I am a wimp and this is only my third day to ride, I came back inside. Darling bride got up and I boiled some eggs, read the morning paper and the drizzle had stopped by 10:00 a.m. Streets were damp with a few small puddles so I put my helmet and gloves on and went for a ride. My usual route, with a little extra, and I did 6.4 miles this morning. I like the two hike/bike paths I use as they aren't very crowded. I've been the only one on a bike all three days. Sunday and today there were some walkers/joggers. But not enough for us to get in each other's way.

I do not like exercise of any kind but I am enjoying riding the bike. Today I concentrated on shifting gears as needed to keep a steady cadence. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

I went out and rode for 41 miles. The temperature was 54 degrees at the start which is considered pretty cool in Central FL. It was a nice ride. The traffic was very light. I did see a pickup truck in a median. The tree in the median, apparently, failed to yield. Also the tree, according to the driver, was going 45 mph when it struck the pickup. Alas, the tree was not insured. Just another day in Central FL.

14 or so miles with my daughter while she ran from Pocomoke MD to her home in Virginia. It started out in the low 40's with rain. My daughter was fine, I was cold as I was not generating much body heat.

I did 17 miles. Beautiful blue sky however the temp was only in the high 20s.
The side streets were pretty slick with ice and packed snow but once I got out to the main roads it was great. I should have worn warmer gloves though the ends of my finger were painfully cold by the time I got home.

I got in a 12 mile dirt road ride before settling in to watch football for the rest of the day. After several rides on the new MTB lately, it felt good to settle into the drops on the cross bike.

The weather was great for the first time in the past week or so. My wife and I got out on the local rails to trail, the Withlacooche State Trail. Let's see if the link will work. Anyway we rode a grant total 27 miles on the trail in shorts. Got to love Central Florida this time of year.

Rode 32 miles around "The Villages" in Central Florida this morning. Weather couldn't have been better. Did pretty good considering I haven't been on my bike in 3 weeks. I had actually considered going over to Inverness to the Withlacoochee State Trail but thought it might be a little crowded.

Did a 6.4 mile, keep the knees flexing, ride around the neighborhood. Cold (33 F) and somewhat windy.

Like some others, I think the rest of the day will be spent watching bowl games. In particular, the Rose Bowl has my daughter's PhD alma mater, Stanford, and her current place of employment (in a biology lab next to the football stadium), Wisconsin. Not sure who to root for!

Did 28 miles around noon. Temps around 40. Fells good to be out again after mostly trainer rides the last two month.
And now as a yearly ritual watching the Vienna Philharmonic New Years concert.

16.5 miles on roads I'd never done before, because there was little to no traffic, and some parts of the road were hilly, winding, some parts without a shoulder and some parts were two lane with 60 mph zones. No problems today. Not as cold as yesterday, which was in the low 30s . Today low 40s.

Did 52 miles on the fixie... temperature around freezing when I started and it fluctuated, getting warmer, but a little breezy. The forecasters said we would get a 'wintery mix' around noon, but it still hasn't arrived...so maybe it went elsewhere If there is nothing on the ground, it is commute to work in the morning on the bike. Love these winter rides, as the MUP and the roads are pretty empty. Tried out STRAVA today for the first time on my phone. It showed 52 miles and 1700 ft of climbing (more than I thought, as the MUP is pretty flat, and the hills I did do when I got off were not real big). Looks like it will be fun to play with this ap.

Normal commute to get organized before it all starts tomorrow. Downpours both ways but only 19 miles total. I'd like to get out again but I don't really enjoy the winter rains.

Road 7 miles to the night's New Year's Eve party at around 9:30 PM. Hung out for Fireworks....and left about 11:45 so I'd be on the road at midnight and had a great ride. It's about +10F and that made it pretty nice after a few weeks of cold temps. Was a bit concerned with temps dropping and battery life but no problemo. Got some great fireworks pics too. I had to end the old year on a high note and start the new year the right way so rode yesterday and today. Did 33 miles both days.

I did about 15 miles this afternoon on the local MUP's. They are great this time of year, no babystrollers, occasional dog walkers, I was the only biker on rutted ice and packed snow. I can't figure out where everybody else was, 15 miles is a challenging ride around here in January, oh well, happy new year!

Great weather in the Florida panhandle. Mid 60s when I started just before noon and low 70s as I finished a beautiful 35 mile run through the countryside.
