If this gets political we will move it to P&R. "My Stroke of Insight" is an interesting book and is not necessarily political.

Political? I'm really curious. How can that be construed to be even remotely political?

Well, in order to get some cycling content, the article mentions shifting our consciousness from causing global warming to what are we going to do about it. I say ride more bike!

That was an interesting article that right away triggered several thoughts. The first is a quote by the Dali Lama that "if you wish for a better world, become a better person". The second thought related to the book "The Inner Game Of Tennis".

In the book, the author who was a tennis coach talks about the two halves of the brain, as mentioned in the article. The left brain, being a critic and interested in detail, is not the part of the brain that actually plays tennis. The right brain integrates input from sound, sight, balance and everything else and is responsible for moving the player around on the court and timing and preparing for the next shot. This is the part of the brain that plays the game.

I'm not at all certain about a specific connection to cycling. I suspect that just as in tennis, when not being aware of thinking but still moving smoothly about the court and producing powerful and accurate shots, my best experiences on the bike are left brain directed.

As Pliny the Elder said, "Quidquid excusatio prandium pro". Those are the words I choose to live by.

Reads like a Science Fiction book I read in High School interlaced with modern political posturing about Global Warming. Neither are put in an analytical context rather they are in advocacy and cathartic frameworks.

The guy had an insight that fits his political and personal point of view and now is advocating it for everyone. I'm willing to debate if somehow it can be kept civil and no one throws grenade posts just for the enjoyment.

I had watched it earlier. I loved her detailing of the effects on her consciousness, and having achieved nirvana during the stroke. I learned a lot from that talk. I was very impressed with how she managed to get help.

What guy? I'm going to have to go back and review this. I thought I posted a TED video about a female neuro-scientist who had a stroke.

This is exactly why I posted this. Her description of her change of perception mirrors almost exactly what I have read in Deepak Chopra, Don Miguel Ruiz, Carlos Castaneda, et. al. I found it enlightening and for people our age it offers a different way to see what may happen to us when we leave this "reality."

Anything from Huffington is political. As is anything from Fox on the other side. At least Huffington doesn't have the gall to call themselves "balanced".

LOL. I HAVE that book around here somewhere. At the time, I used it to teach high school diving. Think lots of visualization exercises. It's what - 25 years old? IMHO, no cycling or 50+ content in the OP.

But I took Latin MANY years ago.

Pie? Is it sun warmed pie, toaster oven warmed pie, geological induced warmed pie or atmospherical modified warmed pie? Is there ice cream on that warmed pie?
