Awesome race story
Ok Im 49, but this kid on a mountain bike wanted to race me on my mountain bike, well I also carry 30LBS of stuff going to work, long story short I completly destroyed him on a hill climb, OLD GUYS RULE!
|
......but, did you dial it up to 400 watts and drop him because he had on team kit and flash him with your massive guads?
Bill |
So you crushed him.
|
You crushed a kid???
|
Did you drop the hamer too? No 400W, other-riders-destroying race report is complete without droping the hamer.

Only 49. You're still a youngster yourself.

Let's hear it for the Old Guys! There are several teenagers who race me home when they see me. My ego just can't let them win. They also stay within a couple of miles of the neighborhood. And one of them has the best bikes around, stinking SPOILED Teenager!

These kinds of threads have a long and glorious tradition: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...oped+the+hamer
To the OP, don't take it personally or seriously. |

Ok, I'll brag a little, can't pass up the opportunity. On last Saturday I did a 70 mile "Tour" as a fundraiser for United Way. It was the first year for this event so there were only around 40 riders in the 70 mile event. Our group of four riders finished "first"....but remember it was not a race ;-) We ride together a lot so know how to draft efficiently, etc. Our ages are 48, 59 (me), 65, and our oldest rider is 74. Average for 70 miles including the rest stop was 19.3 mph. I did another 50 miles on Sunday. So yeah, old guys can rule! Richard |
I was riding towards tunnel road in the Oakland hills ( a popular weekend ride) when a young rider came up alongside, said something about Santa being nice to me with a new bike, and asked "tunnel dude?" He sprinted ahead then looked back, slowed and let me catch up. He did this a few times until it became clear he was trying trying to get me to race. We started down the road past temescal together, and that's when I did it. I turned off to watch a cute jogger, because at my age there are things a lot more important than riding fast.

I hauled my 8 year old up hills all summer on her trailer bike, guessing 70 lbs of extra weight. Now I'm king of the climb.

I was riding in the neighborhood last weekend when this kid challenged me to race. Long story short, I crushed him. Then I took him to ice cream and called his mom (my daughter) to come pick him up. I am the man.

Sweet! And, with the high level of skill that comes from experience, you didn't even get tangled up in your opponent's training wheels.
