"Soliciting opinions on the aesthetics of tan saddle on light orange frame."
My wife has suggested more than once that all my taste is in my mouth. Keeping that in mind, I like it. :thumb: thanks for the input on saddle color. I think I have a better color combo on a blue bike, with a black saddle back on the Dutchie. |

We have been getting quite a bit of rain. This canyon was black and charred not long ago from the Thomas Fire. It is hard to believe now with just one decent year of rain. This is between Santa Paula and Ojai California. Joe joesvintageroadbikes.wordpresshttps://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...34b8c2528.jpeg

^^ Tire marks on the curb.
Car tires have very thin sidewalls nowadays to improve mileage. Rubbing a sidewall on the curb is a good way to get an unrepairable flat. Not sure it if is your place Kabuki12 but if so, whomever is parking their car with the tire against the curb might want to give a few inches more space. -Tim- |

Kabuki12 nice website and write-ups on your bikes.
I occasionally think I should do the same, but I'm not certain as to why. No one in my extended family is a cyclist. Instead of getting rid of tubular wheelsets, I have embraced them. |

Noticing that you are on a cyclocross/gravel bike, how was the climb on Jones Creek Dam?
I might go Saturday 2/16 but will stay off the singletrack. Roads should be muddy enough. The bike has compact road gearing in front and an 11/36 cassette in the rear which is a little lower than the standard 11/32 road cassette. Even so, the section after the dam, up to Winding Stair Gap Rd was a bit of a mash and I walked in two spots. The issue was tight radius turns on some of the switchbacks. I could not keep enough momentum to make the turn and stay balanced. Throw in a tree root or some rocks and it was easier just to get off and walk. -Tim- |

I really just want to do the Southern Cross course, or as much of it as I can do. Currently, I'm not fit enough to do anything but this summer should be different. My cross bike has an 11-28 cassette. I would need to get a med/long cage derailleur and a 12-36 to do it on the cross bike or I could take my old fully rigid mtb bike. I think I would prefer to try on my cross bike, but I wouldn't be in a hurry. |

Weather was too rotten for a long road bike ride so instead challenged a very steep dead end road north of town. |
Gorgeous today, but brisk.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9e2c618099.jpg
