Thanks for the reply. I have not ridden that section along the Allegheny River although I did ride north of Emlenton to Indian God Rock and back. I'll have to put this on my list for the year!

(the Sandy Creek trail runs perpendicular to and over the Allegheny River trail)
the Oil Creek trail southern trailhead is at Petroleum center ; the northern trailhead is at the Drake Well museum and park
the short Queen City trail can also be entered near the northern trailhead / Drake Well museum and park
please note the small bridge near the entrance to southern trailhead at Petroleum Center is currently closed
attached some pics of an Oil Creek trail ride from late last summer

t2p,
For an out and back ride, where do you recommend parking? Distance of, say, 25 to 30 miles. Thanks!

the Oil Creek trail ride is a great ride - just a tad short of the low end of your range at approx 23 miles (when the short 1.5 mile Queen City trail is included) ... 11.5 miles out - and then 11.5 back
if traveling from Pgh area - (?) - recommend parking at the Petroleum Center trailhead ... Petroleum Center is just north of Oil City ; the other end of the trail near the Drake Well museum is just south of Titusville
please note: a small bridge is out near the entrance to Petroleum Center trailhead

The Oliver trail at Goddard State Park / Lake Wilhelm is a blast
just 12 miles - but you can reverse direction for a second loop for 24 miles total ... (because of the nature of the trail it is like a different trail when reversing direction)
this is one of my fav rides - however some not particularly fond of this trail because it includes a number of turns and ups and downs - some sharp / steep ... etc ... mrs t2p calls it ‘chutes and ladders’ ...

We're in our May-grey/June-gloom season, but I thought I might have seen a shadow today.

Met a very friendly Harper with an excellent tail wag. Shared a tiny morsel of an energy bar which got her drooling like a fiend. A Very sweet dog.

you can also hit the nearby short Ernst trail (10 miles) near Meadville if you plan to ride the Oliver trail at Goddard State Park
start at the Ernst trail - get a quick 10 miles - and then drive south (I-79) to the Oliver trail / Goddard State Park (x 2) for a 34 mile ride
