Little Tujunga. I love the view of this road from Camp 9. See that curve way in the distance?

This is the top of that curve.

We called these yellow wildflowers “sour grass”. Not sure what they really are called.

Could be Oxalis or Wood Sorrel.

The leaves are edible and have a tart taste. Don't eat too many. The tart taste comes from Oxalic Acid.

I'm only 6'2", down from 6'4".

But, my father's nickname in school was "High Pockets".

Must be something in the water. Was 6’ 2.5” and now 6’ 1”. I can hear the bones in my neck creak when I turn my head at times as I have lost cushioning.

Today I rode around the neighborhood. Hang gliders launch from the top of this hill and they have a landing area here with facilities.

From yesterday's Easter Ham (Mount Hamilton) ride. Skies clearing after the prior day's deluge of wind and hail, how green is that valley:

Was it cold going back down?

The first 3-4 miles were pretty chilly, but then it was comfortably pleasant.

It was 43F at the summit. I could have used full-fingered gloves, and maybe shoe covers (toes went numb).

I've used Gore Windstopper vests for years in those conditions. The lightweight one with a mesh back. The zipper broke and I found a Garneau vest on sale and it's just not the same. It's fine for some rides but a cold wind will cut through @43 degrees when descending. Next year I will get another Gore. I have a heavier vest but it's hard to get it into a pocket and it's too hot for climbing long climbs.
