I just cycled past this Shinto shrine near the Arakawa river in Tokyo around sunset when a couple entered it to say their prayers:

We visited our daughter in Windham, CT for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I brought my bike and have done some short rides on the Airline North State Park Trail. It's a rail trail with varying surface conditions. Here's a shot where the trail crosses Boulevard Rd!

Lovely photos - the Fort Worth Christmas Tree & Santa Monica Bay get extra credit.

Climbed up Fremont Peak, just south of San Juan Bautista California, this am. This local climb tops out at 2800' with among the best views in the South Bay. After looking at at these pictures I'm going to abandon my cell phone and take my pocket camera from now on, but you'll get the gist of the views.

This is the view looking west. Yes, that's the Pacific Ocean in the distance.
Pacific Ocean from Fremont Peak

The true "peak" is inaccessible by bicycle. Dont' know if you can hike up.
Fremont Peak

The dirt trails are part of the Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area. Looks exciting if you're into that sort of thing.
Hollister Hills

One of the prettier parts of the descent. The upper 5 miles is fairly steep and the road can see ice in the winter which results in sand being applied so a good deal of care is required.
Descent

This road is actually in very good condition. The top is a state part with picnic tables and rest rooms. Quite a treat compared to the dead end ranch roads I usually ride. I rank the climb as the second most difficult within 10-15 miles of my house

Congratulations. :thumb: That is a major step. As big or bigger than riding a first century.

Nope. Just a middle Georgia dirt road.

Here's an interesting way to get to the rail trail:thumb: While my wife and I were riding on the Withlacoochee Rail Trail in Inverness, FL today, we spotted this seaplane pulled up at the Wallace Brooks park. My first thought was they had stopped for a picnic as it was around lunch time and a favorite spot for many in the area. However as we got closer bikes were parked near the plane. It seems they use the plane to go carry a couple of bikes to areas that have bike access. Kewl!http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/gal...?imageid=17066

Just returned from vacation in sunny AZ. They build some amazing structures along the major roadways.

Really neat depiction of a Roadrunner there on the sound deflection barrier, where in AZ is that, Water Lover?

I ride this bridge often. In actual practice,( unless you are a visitor :>)) we leave that lane for walkers/runners and ride in the rather generous side lanes on the roadway. The 65' ers are about all we have around here for hills which is why we don't do too well in the mountains the first few days.

Some riders get out early in the AM and ride repeats but traffic is a lot denser around here than it used to be and the turnarounds can be risky.
