Wow, when I saw "Big Four" I wondered if it was that abandoned bridge with both approaches removed. I would see it when I visited Louisville.

Here in Cincinnati, a road / train bridge was converted to a pedestrian and bike bridge. It gets a lot of use.

Removed RR tracks on the left, walkway in the middle, and two lane road bridge converted to walking and biking on the right:

I think that bridge is upstream of the one we walked across when we went to the Bengals/Giants game in Nov. We crossed from Covington to the west side of the stadium at the practice fields. My daughter liked seeing the mighty Ohio that way.

That's the one. They spent decades wondering what to do with it, and in a stroke of genius they turned it into a giant pedway. The Kentucky Side ramp is gorgeous.

In fairness to the Hoosiers, I don't think they gave it the same budgetary priority.

When their side is complete, we'll have easy access to an extensive network of trails in Southern Indiana. It will be MUP heaven.

VERY cold. It got so cold my camera quit working a mile later. We hit a white out with winds blowing 30 mph. Only about 100-150 of the 1500 made it up and over that day. The rest were either bussed from the top or they turned back around and were bused from Estes to Granby. A few were sent to the hospital.

I can say with pretty high confidence that I would NOT be in that group of 100-150. :o

Sorry ... gotta share this one of my little niece. I think she likes the bell. :D

While we are somewhat on the topic of bridges..... one of my favorites is the old Seven Mile Bridge that currently is opened for bikes and feet from Knight's Key to Pigeon Key in the Florida Keys. It's only a 2 mile ride, a slight detour from the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail ending at Pigeon Key.. a great museum. The bridge has the Atlantic on one side and the Gulf on the other. Quite a sight:)

It was a little loose in a few spots, but mostly pretty firm after the rains we've had recently. No problems at all with my 40mm Clement MSO tires.
Next time I ride out that way I'll have to turn down Otis Redding Drive and go by the Big O Ranch where he lived and is buried. His wife still lives there.
