I now have this pretty much where I want it. Velo Orange Piolet frame. Just got a good deal on an XT crankset and replaced 2 chainrings so it's now 48-36-22, 11-34 9 speed. Brooks Flyer saddle is also new. 700x55mm Rene Herse slicks. Big (203mm/180mm) Magura rotors. TRP HY/RD calipers. SP dynamo hub and B+M lights.
The Cadillac of minivans of bikes.

A few more have snuck into the house or been built up since the last time I posted.
This was picked up locally as a "winter project". Found a really beautiful frame under all the dust and grime. Pulled off the pretty mint looking Exage groupset and rebuilt this one with a mix of Dura Ace and Ultegra 9 speed parts.
Then this nice Merckx Corsa 01 showed up on another forum at a great price for the built bike. I've always wanted to try one of Eddy's bikes and I lucked out and got my hands on it.
Then I stumbled on this bike with a bit of a story. Still haven't confirmed the story by getting through to Oscar but it's quite a nice little bike either way. Supposed to be his training bike from the first team he won the WC with.
Then I stumbled on this beautiful Gianni Motta as a NOS frameset. I've been looking for a good U.S. Flag themed one in my size for years. Built this up with a nice, used Campagnolo C-Record 8 speed groupset.
And finally there's this 80's NOS Krapf frameset I had been watching since at least 2018. Stumbled on it looking for a Vanni Losa build and yes, he did build this one. Built it up mostly with Suntour Superbe parts and a few Dura Ace bits.
Weird thing for me is all of these have come into the house during the winter and I still have not ridden any of them. Winter won't quit this year as the snow is still at least 4 ft. deep in my yard and over 9 ft. deep where I've been snowblowing all winter. And right now it is dumping again. On top of that I just scheduled a full knee replacement in about 10 days so I don't know when I'll be back on the bikes this year. Sad....

Nope. Saddle did get leveled a bit, but this is my 51st season and I know what works for my physiology. Cringe all you want.

Bella, my new ride!
Bella at Black Mesa
I wanted a drop-bar, step-through road bike with clipless pedals and brifters, so I built my own, on a Raleigh Super Record mixte frame, and am loving riding her.

My Quantum just got a rebuild. New stem and flat top shallow drop bar, and new 105 R7000 component group. I added a carbon seatpost and a new saddle last year. Only the frame, fork, headset, and paint are original. It now has the same drivetrain as my 2022 Trek Emonda SL5, but with rim brakes.

This is the first bike I built up from a bare frame. It's a '74 Raleigh Sports with 700C wheels, a new S-A AW 3-speed hub, Weinmann centerpull brakes with Koolstop Continental pads, an S-A bar-end shifter and (obviously) drop bars with shellacked Newbaum bar tape. I don't ride it much, because the frame flexes alarmingly under my weight, and I don't want to break it. I spent way too much building it...I've gotten a bit smarter about how I rebuild bikes.

70s bikes
I like road bikes from the early 70s. They have generous clearance for wide volume tires and make fine all road bikes. I rode these 3 over the past week on my "training" route which is 24 miles. The '72 Schwinn Sports Tourer is pretty much all original other than the pedals and consumables. I modded the Motobecane Grand Record for light trail/gravel riding with 700 x 35c tires and generous climbing gearing (50/36 rings and a 14/28 five speed freewheel). The Fuji is the best riding bike of the lot and it is set up for long distance riding with a 48/38/28 SR Apex 86 bcd crank, a 13-28 7 speed freewheel, first gen dura ace brakes, suntour cyclone derailleurs, suntour barcon shifters, shimano 600 hubs laced to Araya rims, and 700 x 32c tires. I find the Selle Anatomica saddle very comfortable on long distance rides.
1972 Schwinn SportsTourer
1973 Motobecane Grand Record
1970s Fuji Finest

Latest addition to my fleet as seen over in C&V. Chrome 1972 Schwinn Paramount P13-9, frame and fork from a forum member and used on-hand components to build it to a mostly original state. Campagnolo NR throughout, newer Cinelli bars and stem, 32mm Rene Herse tires on Super Champion Gentleman rims and a B17 Imperial. 48/42 rings and a 14-32 Suntour Perfect to get me up the hills around home. I got a set of replacement decals from Waterford as there are only scraps left of the Reynolds and down tube logos decals, and nothing of the other two originals. It rides really well, like I've always had it.
