Picked up a '73 Raleigh Competition frame on facebook marketplace. Included the nice 3 pin TA crankset. All the other bits and bobs came from my basement bike stash. Trying out some fat Challenge Strada Bianca tires. Check out the curve on that fork and sloping crown, you dont see that on new bikes.

What effect does that fork curve and crown have on a bike's handling?

The OP may have been referring to the elegance of the look and may have also been referring to how the amount of curve in the fork contributes to the amount of trail in the front end geometry. This affects handling in that more trail makes it feel more stable and less “twitchy.” How small the fork tubes taper down to may also provide some flexibility for bump absorption.

What cyclist only has one bike? As my avatar says, I own 4 bikes, but here are my two recent acquisitions. Cannondale Neo e-bikes! (Topstone SL and Tesoro SL EQ, respectively) The assist is amazing for hills, headwinds, and when touring with the panniers. Otherwise, I just leave it off and it is a traditional bike. Battery is in the down tube, and the extender battery shown in the second photo can be added to either bike. (first photo that is a speaker, not bike battery, in the down tube water bottle cage).

This one is my APB, which is my favorite bike. As I liked how the Di2 conversion worked on my Birdy, I am putting together the parts to put on the Moulton. So far I’ve gotten the XTR levers, info display, and Dura Ace 9070 front derailleur, I’m still waiting on a 9070 rear derailleur, cassette, and battery. The bull moose bar was kind of a whim, something I though I would use temporarily until I got a good stem and drop bar. But this bar seems just right, the riding position is perfect, and I get no numbness in my hands even without gloves, so I’ll keep it the way it is. If you ever get a chance to buy a space-frame Moulton, you should, I have never ridden a more smooth and stable bike.





The next is a Stowaway. I bought this from a seller in the UK, and it arrived in Japan a few days ago. It needed a little tinkering to to make it roadworthy, but is ridable now. The two-speed rear hub takes a little getting used to, but it works well enough. I will strip it down and repaint it once I receive the bushings, bearings, and other things which I have ordered for it. I was tempted to ride it the way it is, but the rebuilding a bike to me is almost as fun as riding one. The ride on this old bike is surprising, and is also smooth and stable, but the braking is awful. I’m tempted to add Nexus hub or derailleur system for a wider range of gears, but I think I will keep the Duomatic for simplicity sake. We have a home in Kamakura, which is an old city with tiny streets and lots of weekend traffic, this bike should be a great away to get around town.

62 yrs young here. Just back into riding as a way to get some higher intensity exercise than walking the dog. Ride is a circa 1985-6 Nashbar road bike. Clean, rides smoothly. Taking it out for early am 30 minute rides to get acclimated. No picture because I just joined. Will post pic when able.

New to me from a local tech who gets bikes donated which he fixes up and sells for charity trail support. He let me have this CAAD 6 for $150. Put new chain rings, wheels, tires, seat post and saddle. Not as plush as my Trek Domane as I was trying to get this 58cm under 20lbs. Rides great as it looks.
