Probably more than they are worth unfortunately. I have to admit that the paint scheme was what caught my attention while looking for a 1987 Paramount. Then once I researched and figured out that they were a little part of Schwinn's history I had to have it. Love to take it out rocking an old Replica Team USA jersey and socks.

These PDG's are good fast bikes aren't they?

Very stiff frame, you have to really stomp on it to get any flex, but you get back everything you put in (with a little change). If you like pounding big gears and torturing a frame, this is is the one to get. I'm not aware of too many other bikes that use the Tange OS tubing, it's good stuff. I wonder why it wasn't used more?

Excellent balance on those bikes, for some reason it's a really easy bike to do trackstands on. I can't explain it, but I just feel like a professional riding this bike. Still mostly stock for now, definitely a work in progress that might involve a paint job at some point. The factory paint jobs on these bikes were sometimes pretty hideous. Mine is no exception.

^ I agree with all of that. When I first got it I thought it was too harsh for our bad roads. But over time I've gotten used to it and really enjoy going out and hammering it. Heck I even did the one local 8 mile climb on it even though it's only sporting a 42T small chainring. It seemed to transmit every bit of my pedal strokes into uphill movement. Parts of the climb hit 14% but it's probably around 8% avg. Heck I even recorded my second fastest time in the steepest segment near the top.

I'll also say I'm not a big fan of a lot of the paint splatter jobs they did on a lot of these.

Here are my wife and I earlier today, riding the Tour De Bronx. My bike is a 1974 Raleigh International which I've painted and rebuilt with new components. Her bike is an All-City Macho Man. I'm 56, and she's 66 and proud of it.

Happy birthday!

What's that black thing in the frame behind the crank? A place for the battery if you later go electronic?

 I tell people that it is a motor, but it's Specialized's SWAT Box. Tube, CO2 cartridge, inflator head and tire iron. OH YEAH, and a money clip for holding down that $100 bill.

Congrats and happy b'day! Liking my new Roubaix expert too.

Mine is electronic UI2, battery is inside the seatpost, charge port on the bar-end.

You do realize that the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Right? Here is the place. We are all friends. With similar issues. Though maybe not as involved...

On a more serious note, is it just the pic, or are those tires green(ish) too??

Yep, and the new saddle on it is black with a green stripe running down the middle. ;)

Today the "old guy" was sorting this "new" ride out.

Sometime within an hour of getting home the front tube let go. So glad that didn't happen at 28 mph while on the aero bars. That would've sucked.

Hello,

Here is a phone pic of my Sutra. Taken at the bike trails in Glenwood, IL. (Oops! Picture was taken at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Indiana. Picture is old and bars and stem are lower.)

Picture of my Electra Loft. Picture taken at 'Swisher Park', it is a small rest area off the Erie-Lackawanna bike trail. This bike taught me to breath again.

OT question: Does one have to pay money to start an Album at this site?

What size is the front wheel? 520?

Yep, so I'm not seeing many options for tires and wheels and such if I want to upgrade. Running a brand new Schwalbe Durano tire which was the "raciest" I could find.

BlazingPedals 10-31-17 06:10 PM

Yeah... In 25x520, I'm aware of the Panaracer Pasela, the Kenda Koncept, and the Schwalbe Durano.
