One of my favourite rides. It's a 1980s MIELE with a Columbus SL frameset I had converted to take an early 1980s Dura Ace AX groupset. I just need a frenot Dura Ace AX hub to complete the groupset.

Sorry. I meant 34th. Its been a while since I moved away.

I did lots of work for a company named MDRC located at 16 E. 34th. The gold doors across the street.

Pic brought back lots of memories. I was there on 9-11. Remembering the Astro Gallery on the corner and good Vietnamese food down on 29th IIRC.

This is right across the street at 19 East. That's your building, where the Staples is.
That was a strange day indeed. I was working up at 53rd and 3rd. Walked down to 33rd to wait it out at a relative's apt (before I moved into the city).

Yeah. We saw the 2nd plane hit from the picture window in the lunch room which faced south.

You were brave to go to 33rd. We thought that the Empire State Building might be hit, shut down all the IT equipment and evacuated.

I walked across the 59th St. bridge and took the LIRR back to Suffolk County. Remember two F-14 Tomcats flying down the East River and banking right over TWC. People heard the planes and were scared but cheered when they realized they were ours.

Bike would have been great that day.

My ex and I worked for Citigroup and I was very worried about Citigroup Center being targeted so I grabbed her and we bugged out. We also lived on LI, and wanted to get out too but didn't know if we could get a train in LIC so we decided that her aunt's place was on 3rd would be as safe as we could get. The stream of dazed, ash-streaked people walking uptown will always stay with me. Was very nervous walking past Grand Central...like you we saw a single plane go by and everybody stopped and looked up in fear. Not a typical New Yorker's response.

After a few hours when the trains started running again we got a train out of Penn. Our next door neighbor also worked for Citi, at 7 WTC. As fate would have it she was late that day and got turned back. Other colleagues of mine that worked downtown and faced the towers saw horrific things. Going downtown in the immediate aftermath broke my heart.

This old people has been busy in his shop. I've just finished my Japanese City Bike (Toshi Baiku) - build and spent the entire day riding around Saint Paul shaking her down and fixing any bugs that cropped up. Of course, we had to stop for photos...

Top of the hill, overlooking Saint Paul and the river.

Along the trails through our many parks.

Then down the hill and along the waterfront...

...and into the industrial heart of the city.

Here we are near sundown, and we still have to go back up the big hill.

After many miles and that steep climb up Ohio Street, there's a nice treat waiting at the top. Wild Berry Smoothie at The Amore Cafe.

Mostly this:

However this is my favourite, custom made for me 23 years ago and still going strong; it is my go-to bike for centuries. It may get a repaint at the factory this winter:

The Cervelo is on the way out, as it's a bit too big for me; bought it on a whim at an end-of-season clearance. Great bike but my 58 y.o. frame does not take to kindly to inappropriately-sized bike frames. It was bought on Ultegra but currently is set up with Campy Chorus. This week I'm picking up this, built on Campy Record:

Cycles Marinoni

My son is part-owner of a shop that is an authorized dealer so I will get a substantial discount.

Turning 60

This year I turned 60. After six coronary stents and other health issues I did not think that I was going to see 60.

Guess I fooled them all.

To reward myself I bought a new C60. Ernesto and I have one thing in common, besides our first names. We both have been "in business" for 60 years.

So here she is, the latest addition to the family.

^^ Sweet bikes. But jeesh, should live a little and ride Shimano once in a while. (kidding)

This is one of them ... a 2012 Neo Primato with Chorus 11s
My wife leaned a broom against it this week ... I very politely asked her not to do that again. Thankfully she's understanding of my ... fixation, for lack of a better description
