At 71 I've changed the style of bike I ride. I put this one together from a frame that I got by stripping a store bike with what were for me good dimensions. Nashbar had the bike and I had a better drive train stripped off my older road bike. I've gone full circle from my starter hybrid through many others and back in the last decade and a half.

Well in honor of @texaspandj above here is my latest build. I bought the frameset from him. This is sitting in the house waiting for me to get off work today so I can take it out for it's maiden ride.

1989 Centurion Ironman Expert built up with a Campagnolo Chorus 10 speed groupset and currently sporting destickered Fulcrum Racing Quattro wheels. 20 lbs, 12 ozs of old school cycling glory! :thumb:

If that thing rides even half as good as it looks, you have a hell of a good ride. Your build is fantastic. Love the wheels.

It did, love at first..umm... ride! 20 miles, it was freezing and my lungs were dying (forgot inhaler) but I still ran a fast pace. It felt really good under me!

This is my first post! I acquired this bike a few years back. Old Fujis have a sweet spot in my heart. I worked in a Fuji Shop during the early '80s, Lifecycle in Cambridge, MA. I've set it up to my preferences, mustache bars, triple crank and Suntour Superbe. The tire clearance is maxed out at 32mm. The serial #indicates having been built December 1974. Incredibly smooth and spritely. So is the bike! I celebrated bday#60 last July. Two years ago set personal annual mileage record at 4880 miles. I do around 3K now with 1200 of it commuting. Can anyone direct me to a good site to instruct me on some good stretches? Mr. Mike

When you've got an Ironman bike that looks that good and rare to boot, one's all you need.

Here's my preferred ride for winter. Thanks to the upgrade to studded snow tires, I've gotten in 40 miles so far this month which is a lifetime winter riding achievement for me. Normally when the slick stuff appears, I stay the heck off my bike.

My 2003 Kona Jake The Snake that's setup as my wet/winter rider. Had a great 25 miles on it with temps in the lower 40s. Roads a bit wet and messy but no big deal. Then as I flew into the driveway I hit a patch of ice and totally wiped out. Hardest I've hit the pavement in forever. Still haven't had the courage to see how much I messed up what was a really nice paint job. Totally jacked myself up on this wreck too. Hours later and I still can't move my one arm much. I think I really messed up the shoulder. But hey, it was a great ride....up to the last few seconds. LOL!

Sorry to hear about the wreck. Hopefully your body will forgive you and let you get back on that bike.

LOL, yeah it is a bit bright. I do run a tail light all the time though, on my kit bag.

And it's a good thing you said Packers because at least I like and respect them. If you had said Raven or Cowboys I would hunt you down!

Those Bike Friday rigs are pretty cool. Got a Pocket Rocket the other year. They sure are deceptively fast.

This is what I ordered earlier this afternoon, (stock web picture, mine is the same color scheme). Now that I retired to North Idaho, I need something that I can use when there is snow on the ground. It'll take a week or so to arrive, then the shop will swap out the Avid brakes for a set of STX hydraulic ones.
