Early 70s Motobecane Grand Record

I just finished rebuilding an early 70s Motobecane Grand Record and took it out on a 30 mile ride. The bike rides great. I like the gearing with a TA cyclotourist crank (46/36 rings), campagnolo nuovo record derailleurs, and a 14-28 shimano 5 speed freewheel. I'm running 27 x 1 and 1/4 tires at 70 psi and the bike is comfy on a long ride. I'll likely end up using this as a daily commuter. The bike is finished but I still need to track down a set of Reynolds 531 stickers:

I Ride a Bike That's Older Than I Am

I've just finished my 1949 Raleigh Clubman "patina preservation" project. The bike rides beautifully with a modern Sturmey Archer 3-speed drivetrain and Tektro brakes.

I installed all black hardware to draw the eye to that incredible frameset. All I did was give it a good clean, and sprayed clear enamel over the original finish.

The old 531 frame still rolls smooth as buttah, and that geometry yields a comfy yet responsive ride. This is one of my favorites.

I have been anxiously waiting to see the completed project. It was worth the wait. Nice job!

Here are a few current shots of my 1976 Motobecane Grand Touring. Purchased new by my father. This thing rides beautifully. Suntour V-GT Luxe derailleurs and shifters, SR crankset, Pivo stem and randonneur bar, and DiaCompe brakes. I'm shutting it down for a bit until I can rebuild the creaking bottom bracket.

I just brought this one home today, all Iíve done so far was replace the bent front wheel with a spare I had hanging in the garage, flipped the stem, and adjusted the brakes a little and removed a couple outdated accessories the previous owner had left on the bike.
2003 Lemond Nevada City, gearing is 3x8, weighs 19Lbs as it sits (I havenít even wiped the 10+ years of dirt and garage grime off of it yet.

I'm not old yet (only 68), and don't subscribe to pic hosting sites. But my 06 Lemond Reno in my avatar is one of the bikes I ride. The other is a '96 GT Timberline (frame) hardtail mtn.bike with all upgraded parts-sorry no pic of it. It's now a 3x8 with Manitou Axel fork , Avid V-brakes and levers, better shifters & ders., for a few of the upgrades.

I think they missed putting the name on a few of the frame tubes, so it's good that you told us what it was or we'd never have been able to tell...

I might have to search for a Lemond saddle too. 8)
