Not sure what your problem is but after only one year I had a sensor go bad. Had to replace the entire unit. If it's new you should be able to warranty it assuming that's the problem.

Is there a procedure for an ID search on the transmitter in the instructions?

Also, move the computer right down towards the sensor -- but still keep it about a foot away -- to see if you get a signal from the sensor, and while registering the ID.

Frankly, though, in my experience with three wireless computers of different brands, they aren't reliable enough, both in terms of sensor battery life, and in electronically dirty environments, including use of dynohubs and LED lights.

If the transmitter has a reset button on it, you will need to do a search for a matching ID number. Press the Mode button on the computer until it goes into the settings mode. Go to the screen where you see ID. Place the computer head about 8 inches from the transmitter and press the Reset button. You should see some numbers rapidly changing on the computer head. If not, press the Mode button and then the Reset button again. When the numbers on the computer stop changing and only one number is showing, the ID match is complete. Press and hold the Mode button until the computer head goes into ride mode.

^^^This is critical. I've had that same CatEye unit for a while and I discovered that if you hold the unit too close to the transmitter it won't recognize the ID no matter how many times you press the button!

Dumb question but, are the contacts in the battery compartments, and the battery clean. Are you sure the new batteries are good? Are the batteries in the unit correctly? Just a little corrosion can make them useless. I have several Cateye Micro Wireless'es and they are pretty bombproof. The only thing that bothers them are the door opener at some stores, but that is with in a few feet, and less so some power lines. They do run erratic when the batteries get weak.

I have the same Cateye and moved it to another bike when I got a Garmin 500. The Cateye worked flawlessly for a year until I moved it to the other bike. Have had difficulty connecting, replaced both batteries, and it continues to lose connection and repeatedly have to go thru the whole setup process. If I didn't have the Garmin 500 I think I'd go back to the wired computer to save on the frustration and the cost of batteries. OP, I'm sorry that I can't offer any support other than the Garmin works great :)

I discovered that trying to synchronize the sensor and receiver in the vicinity of a fluorescent light met with failure. Moving the bike away from that source of illumination solved the problem. YMMV.
