So that's where Donatello is these days. We had Raphael visit our garden pond a couple of weeks ago. Just a Midlands Painted. One day only. 4" across, 6" long. Don't know where it came from, don't know where it went. Weird.

We're just at the beginning of the season. For the next few weeks we'll be having them wandering by the thousands looking for places to lay their eggs.

Here in Michigan, we are doing something about it!

Beauty! Nice spotting.

All I see around here are coyotes and bears. Well, that and moose, deer, mountain goats, bighorn sheep and the like...

(8) - This story and the fatal attack by the beaver in Belorus make me think twice about flyfishing from my float tube in a secluded mountain lake! A couple of years ago a guy in northern BC got attacked by a beaver and his main complaint was that they don't have any ears so they're hard to pull off! His exploits resulted in a tee-shirt that I highly recommend as a cycling jersey 'just in case': http://www.andrewkurjata.ca/blog/201...beaver-attack/
