Uh oh.........my appetite has returned

I wonder how much of the appetite thing is mental.

I lost 20 lbs since the day after Thanksgiving by eating less, eating smarter and riding a good bit. It takes a few weeks but I've noticed from doing this a few times my appetite adjusts to the reduced food intake. I had paced myself to get to my lowest weight for a ride a couple weeks ago. Now it seems that with that ride behind me I can eat more and not feel quite as stuffed........

Looking forward to the week long tour starting next weekend. Ride lots and eat lots more........

I have found that riding can mess up weight loss. If I get concerned about increasing my miles or speed or getting ready for an organized my diet crumbles and I gain weight.

lately I have been committed to doing moderate rides daily and a slow pace and adhering to my food plan. The giood result is that I've lost 12 pounds of the 20 or so I gained over the winter. Surprisingly my biking endurance hasn't suffered.

It has been 2 years since I have done any serious bike training, 20lbs heavier than my race weight. If you don't keep on it, the weight will creep back up. However, sometimes you just have to let go.
