Title pretty much says it all.

Still don't know if my health issues are heart related or respiratory related and it looks like it's going to take longer to get figured out than we had hoped. I'm up to 5 different doctors now, each of which has their own series of tests that have to be scheduled before they can tell me anything. Unfortunately, that all takes time and I want to know RIGHT NOW. We considered going anyway and just riding less but Mrs. Grouch said she isn't interested in driving 500 miles to do a series of 2 mile rides.

The nicer the weather is outside the more bummed I get but I don't know what else to do.

Sorry to hear that but better you get to the bottom of the problems first. Especially where the cardiovascular system is concerned. Better to live to ride another day.

I had been busy training and qualifying for the PBP when I had an injury that cancelled those plans so I can sympathize with your disappointment.

I never really gave much thought to it prior to that but imagine the disappointment with Olympians who spend their lives prepping only to cancel due to sickness, injury or politics. We all remember Wide World of Sports and "the agony of defeat".

I hope the tests prove negative and it was just a scare.

Actually, I'm thinking just the opposite.

I've had a stress test that we terminated at only 120 bpm because I was huffing and puffing so badly. My last couple of bike rides ended that way too. That's the reality that's keeping me from doing want I want to do. As of now, nobody has given me an opinion as to cause. Once somebody can tell me what's going on I'll know whether I should either address the health issue or embrace the new reality start selling off my bicycling stuff.

Right now I'm afraid to do much of anything by myself.

Can't ride if you're not alive. Be patient, take care of your health and get back on the bike when you can. May it pass quickly.

Agree and understand to not knowing about the root cause and how to deal with it. Surely someone can get this figured out sooner than later.

Yeah, if I were in a more acute stage I'd probably be in a hospital and have doctor's and various technicians crawling all over me. I'm still functioning so I have to schedule a test and wait for the result before seeing that particular doctor. I don't do waiting well

It's frustrating to have to wait to habe the issue resolved because you are not "sick enough". My gf was having A-fib issues and her heart doctor told her that she would have to wait a while to schedule a procedure unless she went to the ER. The surgeon was not happy but they admitted her and the procedure was done and she was home in like three days.

Door County gets it's name from "Death's Door" A water passage between Door County and Washington Island where sholes and currents conspired to sink many sailing vessels.

Eventually your persistance will pay off.

One of our "Sunday Morning Ride" group just went through a somewhat lengthly quest to find and correct the root cause of acute exercise induced chest pain. After three or four different stress tests were unsuccessful at finding anything a blockage was finally found, in an artery near the rear of his heart I believe, with a scope. The Docs were able to rectify the situation on the spot and he's back riding and in great health.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

That's what I wanted to happen. Find a little blockage, fix it, and send me off on my vacation. These tests that turn out to be negative suck!

Sorry to hear about the cancellation of your vacation. I know from your posts that this was important to you. One thing I noticed in one of your replies above, the fear and anxiety that haunted you for a while after your accident seems to be coming back in on you. I hope that the doctors can find what the problem is and that you don't approach selling off the bike stuff. I am not a waiting type either and I can imagine your frustration about one test after another with no answers forthcoming. And, as others have said, I'll have you in my prayers for an answer to be quick.

Don't say 'cancelled', call it 'postponed for now'. You WILL get through this, and you WILL be back at it. This is just a bump in the road of life. It is when you let the road of life beat you, that you give up hope.

My wife and I had to 'postpone' our 25th anniversary vacation because of my prostate surgery/recovery. But last year we went! So it was our 26th and not the 25th. Big freaking deal!
