Wildlife Crossing
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7283/9...32b571ff22.jpg
Unlike the usual warning signs for deer or elk that we have along most of our highways, I thought this one was interesting enough to warrant stopping for a photo op. Unfortunately, there were none to be seen today. Flattened or otherwise. I would imagine some of you have other types of wildlife crossings in your parts of the world? Added note: I absolutely hate the cattle crossings with the steel pipes and huge gaping holes between. Had to cross 3 of them on today's ride. Thankfully none of that type of not so wild life on the road either. |
That's cool to see. I've seen too many flat turtles. It's not pretty.

Koala bears, kangaroos, wombats, ducks... trucks, trains... they're the ones we normally have signposted
|
For me, the dreaded salamander. This road actually used to get pretty slick in season before they started closing it.

Don't know if this lady was serious or not but if she was..... |
... I... ... I'm speechless... It's true! Humanity IS becoming stupider over time.
Having seen one gargantuan tortoise on a road with no shoulders and a steep curb, as well as several rather gruesome street pizzas with a green shell crust, I think we need some tortoise crossing signs... |

One of the trails I ride has a section of dirt road (old railbed) that crosses a lake/swamp It is common to find snakes laying across the trail with the occasional turtle and even beaver.

I've always wondered how they get the deer to cross at the signs....

If you've ever been out near Fort Irwin, you'll know there are desert tortoise crossing signs all over around there.

This was taken four days ago by the front gates where my daughter lives. There is a pond across the street and a fountain next to the gates. This guy apparently likes to travel from the pond to the fountain, where the ducks hang out, because they see him there quite often.
