Lance, Willie & Drugs
Poor Lance Armstrong,
I think it is just terrible and disgusting how everyone has treated Lance Armstrong, especially after what he achieved, winning seven Tour de France races while on drugs. When I was on drugs, I couldn't even find my bike. Willie Nelson |
Yeah. Lance could have handled it better by coming clean sooner. He has now taken the entire blame for an entire culture's dysfunction.

How come USADA is so quiet after Lance . Don't tell me they have nothing on their witch hunt list for the rest of the year . You have to wonder why they don't go after players in NHL , MBA , NFL , PGA . I am sure there are plenty of dirty players in these leagues . So , why are they waiting for ?

I think you'll find that the point of the term "witch-hunt" is that those persecuted were invariably innocent of the crimes of which they were accused. Whereas in this case... It's clear that the OP was intended as a joke. But if it's going to turn into yet another outraged Lance fan-boys thread, maybe it should be amalgamated into the 217? |
^^^^^
Yes, because you just know it's a matter of time before this degenerates into thrashing a certain LA/Postal-like current entity... ;) |
Well, with Le Tour upon us in just another day or two, it is to be expected.
|
I thought I'd heard the last of this loser. Will someone please just lock this thread, or consolidate it with the mega-Lance thread.
|
It'll probably get moved to the pro forum soon enough.
I don't know why so many cycling fans were suprised about US postal's juicing, lol. We've been assuming it for years in my boxing forum. That's why I was much more of a fan when he rode for Motorola and he was probably starting to juice then since it was in the EPO era. Fascinating what we expect from sports figures more so than pols. |
Still ****.

I posted this more to reflect Willie's humor than to add another flogging to a dead horse.
|
They haven't even come out with the movie yet, lol.
|
The TDF interests me more for the innovations in bikes than anything else. I don't like illegal drug use but like the person sometimes. I enjoy Willie but hate the drug thing.
|
Willie Nelson said "When I was on drugs.."?

And, I laughed. Great joke. |
Surprised a chuckle out of me.

I have avoided all of this discussion. FWIW, Lance is a scum bag, Floyd Landis came clean quickly and did the TDF with a degenerative hip. I have a livestrong Jersey, I plan to burn it when we have a bonfire this summer.

Yep - they all were dopers but as I said, Floyd came clean quickly.

He also had less to lose by doing so. We've had a thread in my boxing forum since May of 2010. It was headed: "Is it time for Lance Armstrong to come clean...?" So if anybody following cycling wasn't aware of the reality without his having to admit it then they were looking through rose colored glasses. Lots of human error here but nobody got ***** or murdered in this affair.

If you did not feel there was a high probability that Lance was a doper early on you were incredibly naive. I respect that he came back from cancer drugs or not and won again. I also respect the lesser dopers like Floyd who took the brunt of the scandals early on while other dopers like Lance hung them out to dry. Enough said.
The problem was that there was an NFL kind of permissiveness at the time because they just weren't confident that they could control it. So you're right in that the guys who got caught were hung out to dry and were persona non grata. I can see why they were bitter about that and can see the need for reform. That was really the fault of the system at the time more so than blaming any one person for it. |

Some really good routes if you know all the country roads, albeit a bit flat. Rode a few times from Bmore County to OC in a day, 140 serpentine miles, and once you get past the Bay Bridge you can really rip.....until the headwinds start messing with you! |
