Campy 11 speed
 

I installed a new campy 11 speed chain with campy chain tool few months ago and this morning the chain fell apart . The pin that came with the new chain is barley attached to the outer plate . My question is how should I do to fix this problem . New chain , new pin , push the old pin back to the inner plate . Thanks for the help .

At least a new pin. I wouldn't advise using the old pin. How many miles are on this chain?

Things that are required to pack in all those extra cassette cogs

are at the expense of the chain durability.

they just have to sacrifice that , to thin things down.

the side-plate hole in the chain gets stretched to pass a rivet head ,
like the end of the chain, it's non elastic, the steel side plate,

only way to tighten the fit is by expanding the end of the pin, more..

This is why I don't trust anything over 8 speeds. Thin plates and non-extending rivets compromise reliability. With a little thought and some simple arithmetic, you can set up a nice 2x8 or 3x8 system to satisfy most combinations of desired range and desired ratiometric step size.

Use a new pin and buy a KNC quick link. Have 1000 miles on my Campy 11spd - works like a charm.

Use a KMC quick link do not rely on pushing a pin in to hold the chain together.

+1, now with quick links you only make chains shorter , to fit, then use the QL to join the loop.

Not using 11 speed, but I use a KMC chain with quick-link.

+2, I use them on all my chains. Life is simpler with them.

I am changing my Campy cassette from an 11-23 to a 12-29. I'm told that my Campy chain will be too short. Please confirm? And recommendations?

29 is more than 23, that all you want to know?
