There are plenty of low traffic places to ride while you reawaken your bike skills. Damonte high school area and Bowers Mansion immediately come to mind.

DG,
It's about time you returned. I've been busy acquiring and selling bikes in your absence but probably have not ridden more than you this year. I rode a K2 Enemy cross bike to work and back today, it was hard but wonderful.
Take your bike out for a ride and report back.

Well, I can tell you I made my first ride four days ago after forty-one years; I'd never been on a bike since 1972. I've used an elliptic for the past seven years. It took about 20 minutes to get the 'hang' of it and another half-hour to become comfortable. Stamina-wise the elliptic didn't help me for the hills around northern Virginia and for the lower quads necessary to get up them. My first significant hill I stalled out a hundred feet from the top. I'm seventy-one.

If you can card count, be smart and loose every so often. Maybe win big one day and another loose money to the house(maybe 10 or 20 percent of what you when you won big). On the day you win big, loose a few hands, some in a row, and some ever so often so that the pattern isn't predictable. Counting cards isn't illegal, to my knowledge, but a casino can exclude you from there for it. Make sure you don't win at the same casino.

I used to snow ski a lot in college and I thought I was a pretty good skier at the time. When I got out of school, I put the skis away and didn't hit the slopes for over 35 years. A few years ago I thought I'd give it another try, so I bought skis, boots, poles, gloves, etc., etc. I was real apprehensive that I wouldn't be able to ski anymore, but after 5 minutes it was like I was away for only a long weekend. Someone told me once that skiing is like riding a bike...once you've learned, you never forget...or maybe it's vise-versa.

I'll be living 4.5 miles from Damonte High School, and about 11 miles from Bowers Mansion. I'm going to be located off Mt. Rose Highway, very close to the 395. Thanks for the tip.
