Lets make a deal
I know that this is probably going to bring me a lot of grief from jokesters that just can't resist a little jab.
But I promise to not ever reply with your quote if you will never quote me. Being notified that someone has quoted me and then having to go and pull up each notification to get it to go away is killing my soul.
Ok let the fun begin.

Heh. I just looked in the Settings, and can't find a way to turn off the e-mail notifications for when I am quoted. I'm glad I'm not that quote-worthy.

My wife was on "Let's Make A Deal" in the early 1980s. Kissed Monte Hall and made it to the Big Deal Of The Day...

Not the Big Deal...
Three. Actually [camera blurs into memory sequence..] it was during the break before the Big Deal session would resume. I was sitting in the audience behind two old women who appeared to have been watching the show's taping since Eisenhower was President. They commented that the camera was pointing at door #2 . They commented that the winning door was never first. They also said that door #1 had been the Big Deal on the two most recent filmings. So...
I'm signalling to her with emphasis and fingers held up...'THREE. THREE". So she chooses three. Turns out that the cameras pointed to three immediately when the music resumed. Neither contestant won the Bid Deal that day. Came away with luggage, hair care machines, and some nice earrings that she still wears.
We contested the value of the winnings with the IRS that year, claiming that MSRP wasn't the taxable value, but that fair market value was. We found newspaper ads (remember those?) for comparable luggage and hair care products that cut the taxable value significantly. The IRS agreed, thankfully. It pays to fight, as we over 50 know too well...

I complained to the forum-meisters that you are notified when you quote someone else. Being notified that someone quoted you is useful and important, because often the person quoting you wants a response. Without a notification, you might never respond.
However, being notified that you quoted someone else is totally useless. You already know that.

Unless you are extremely absent-minded, but then, if your memory is that bad, you'll probably never visit the forum again anyway...

For some reason the software at work doesn't allow Tom Stormcrow's e-mails to come through. (I used my work e-mail when I signed up.) I wonder if he's trying to tell me anything important....kind of.
I find the quote notifications handy myself.

I had actually e-mailed with the same question, and got the exact reply from Tom Stormcrow. Unfortunately, the "appropriate options" were not intuitively obvious to me. I tried what I thought was correct, am still accumulating notices. For those of us who are IT challenged, could someone specify which boxes to check to turn of notifications? Thanks.
Check these boxes in your Settings.
