Never Miss An Opportunity .....
I am way behind on my miles and needed to ride 34 this evening to get back on track. It is a nice cool summer evening with absolutely no wind so, the wife says let's go for a ride.
So rather than ride 34 miles I got 18 miles in at a very slow pace but, the company was great. |
Never miss a chance for a ride with your beautiful bride.

My wife is my favorite riding partner. She does not get mad if I sprint a bit and she comes up pretty quickly when I pull over to drink some water. That is a tradition with us. We stop at certain points in our favorite routes and drink some water and talk. It is more a social thing than anything. We are both very busy and it is fun to ride, catch up on news, ride more. When we get home, we cool off and go back to working on our various projects. MaryRose is a copywriter and I am an author, publisher, songwriter, photographer with tons of stuff going on daily. Our rides are our breaks.

Wish my wife would ride. She doesn't know how to ride a bike, never learned. I keep offering to teach her, but she's not interested. I think it would be nice.
But, I do want to state that my wife is an amazing, wonderful person. We're still very much in love and love being with each other all the time--even after 30 years of marriage. |
I'm all suited up, and we'll be doing our standard 61 mile ride together in a few hours. She said she finds it tough, but likes the way it makes her feel afterwards. We do it once per week now, and I'm amazed that she keeps at it.

It was a good week then........eh!
Kansas in August can be brutal, congrats on nice weather. |
Nearly every weekday morning (until the days get shorter) I do a 12-20 mile ride on either my mountain bike or road bike. I try to do it in an hour or less. When I am fortunate enough to have my wife ride with me, I cut it down to 10 miles and just go on the mountain bike (she isn't comfortable on her road bike yet). I don't worry about the time, and while there are a couple of small "hills" where I "sprint" ahead and then wait for her, for the most part we try to stay together and enjoy each others company. It is absolutely worth not getting a hard personal workout to see my wife enjoy riding her bike. I hope this is something that we can enjoy together for the rest of our lives.

Because of a heart condition, my wife can only ride a few blocks at a very modest pace. Then she is simply shot. In our younger years we used to ride 15 to 20 miles together three or four times a week. Those days are gone. Treasure ANY rides you get with those you love.
