welcome to the forum. Several things we all have in common. We all had to start somewhere and we all are still learning. And hills can be a acquired taste. Keep us posted with your progress.

Welcome!

That's pretty good mileage for starting fresh. You must have been in pretty good condition from the gym :D. I don't mind working out in a gym but prefer outdoors myself. The very worst thing in a gym is the stationary cycle. Ugh, try doing that on an uncomfortable seat for several hours, let alone one.

333 mi/mo is pretty decent starting out. I am doing about 400/mo, but it took me years to get there, starting from Clydeville as I did. Keep it up.

Welcome to the forum William.

That's a lot of mileage for a rookie. Are you by chance retired? :)

Climbing is tough for everyone which is why it is a category of cycling performance. I'm an old guy and asthmatic besides so on hills I'm trying to be conscious of everything that may rob horsepower, such as it is. There are a ton of videos on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zam74qlzGtQ with advice from pros on technique. Of special interest is high cadence, first and foremost. Second is, notice how smooth those guys are.

far from being retired ---try to ride no less than 90 miles a week
