Someone has to finish last. I don't mind.
And, Nascar is not raced on open public roads. Could make interesting viewing if it was, however. |

I got a KOM today. It's a 1-mile 129-feet elevation segment of tough rollers with grades ranging from -10% to +12%. (Ave was 21 mph).
I was doing intervals - but without Strava, I doubt that I would have pushed that segment that hard. I.e. for me, it's a good training tool because it encourages me to push harder - thereby building both strength and speed. |

My only issue with Strava is I wish private setting would still allow comparisions to yourself. Maybe it does if you pay but I don't so I cannot say. I like having a way to compare what I'm doing against myself. It is foolish for me to believe that I am actually fast :D

But not to me, since Stoker and I have lost that 27 lbs. so far this year, plus our bike weight changes with the seasons. So power numbers are a lot better for us than times, even though they're calculated (not estimated).

Understood, everyone is different and I imagine if you actually have a power meter it is probably more useful than time or speed since it would take into account effort into a headwind I guess

I learned about Strava from this forum and I enjoy comparing my rides to others and to my past rides. I've never felt forced to get stupid either with competition on Strava or my group rides when some of my friends ride out in traffic before the lights change. On a good day I can catch them and on a lesser day I know the way home:lol:
