Birthday ride tomorrow. HTFU day

Looks like the weather is not going to be so nice, but I can't let my 60th birthday go by without a ride.
Doing the same 60 miler I did last year on November 11.

Here's what the weather forecast looks like. The wind should be at least partly in my favor once I get around the tip of the lake.

Now I've told everybody, I can't back out.

Of course you know Murphy's Law of wind -- it will shift so that you fight a headwind both ways. Have a nice trip around the end of the lake!

That is so cold I can't even imagine. Good luck though I wouldn't want to try it myself.

Sitting here in SoCal, just got back from a ride with 95 Deg.F on my Garmin . . .

Happy Birthday, Dan!

I wish I'd known. I'd have invited you to the ride I'm leading tomorrow. Circumnavigation of Keuka Lake. It's the Y-shaped Finger Lake, 45 miles if you skip across the top of the Y, 58 if you go down the middle.

We're expecting similar temps, but less wind.

Have fun!

Good luck Dan, way too cold for me!! I did my number 60 back in September, the winds were similar but the temp was a 'cool' 90 degrees. At least cool for here.

Enjoy your ride and congrats on the big 60!

An early Happy Birthday wish for you, Dan, hope the ride is a great one and the winds are tailwinds both directions. Pictures of the ride would be appreciated.

Happy birthday.

60 years in Canadian, isn't that about 50 in US years?

Have some poutine for me!

Dan,
Yep, the temps you listed are Celsius, I can convert to Fahrenheit easily, it is still cold, Canucks are a tough breed, my son had acclimated to Canada's climate being in Quebec so long, when he got home from his graduate study in Montreal he was burning up, we couldn't turn up any heat. Now he is back to abnormal.

Thanks everybody. Plans have been altered a little bit. The original plan was to do a one way ride, and my wife was to meet me in Niagara on the Lake for dinner, and then haul the bike home.
We totally forgot this was the evening we were to be looking after our grandsons, taking them to cubs etc, so looks like I'll be turning around mid way and ending up back home.

I would change my plans to "waiting for a better day". Dan will be chilled today with the temperatures, precipitation and wind. Nasty!

Well, got a bit of rain, but it wasn't too bad.
Ride is over, bath and a nap coming up, ride report and pics later.

My plans changed too.

My ride partner (and ride-to-the-ride) and I were the only ones who showed. My innards were in protest over getting up so early, and his las ride over 10 miles was a month ago. So we ditched the circumnavigation and just did a 28-mile down and back on NY 54A, West Lake Road to Hammondsport and back to Branchport.

Got home just as the raindrops started and just when the steam came on for its afternoon blast. That and soup were heaven. No, maybe the nap following was...

Well, I got the 60 miles in, the bath and nap were great, and then Suzanne took me out for a wonderful steak dinner. been a great day.
Too tired to upload and edit pictures, so I'll do that tomorrow.
