As a big fan of TR, I thank you for posting this. I am sure he would not have approved of creeping nanny statism.

I'm not sure that TR envisioned 140 bike riders and 140+ support vehicles when the NP were established either.

Taken from the thread on the apotheosis of ole Pete, these words seem oddly appropriate. Screw the no trespassing sign.
This Land Is Your Land
Words and Music by Woody Guthrie
This land is your land This land is my land
From California to the New York island;
From the red wood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and Me.
As I was running that ribbon of highway,
I saw above me that endless skyway:
I saw below me that golden valley:
This land was made for you and me.
I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts;
And all around me a voice was sounding:
This land was made for you and me.
As I went running I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.

Sounds like the National Forest near my permanent residence.

Naah. In that Ms. Billings is considering canceling the Furnace 508 (with the stroke of a pen, Sir), this actually has something to do with cycling, unlike the recently moved or locked threads.
They won't move it unless someone rants how easy it is for an unelected bureaucrat to make life miserable for citizens of this proud land and starts to draw conclusions about the alarming expansion of the Federal government.
However, I won't be the one who does it, because I don't like having my posts sliced and diced, and I'm in enough deep kimshee as it is.

Death Valley is just one of those places you have to go and ride. Just bring a GPS device like SPOT for emergency.

Everyone has to understand that if B'crats dont make changes, they feel that they are becomming useless. The wants and needs of the masses be damned. In this case the people that do that run know what they are in for, and they should be allowed to continue the race as it has been in the past.
Fight the nanny state B'crats!!!!!
