Spring is like the Rodents of Unusual Size. I don't think it exists.

A balmy 50 for a high here in SC Nebraska. I could hardly contain myself. Felt like a kid! And I think we have a week of this to come. Hoping to get a couple hundred miles in through this stretch.

No sign of spring here either

Woke to actual temp of -12F with windchill of -30, cloudy with a stiff breeze from the north. We had blizzard conditions yesterday morning and my project for today is to shovel a two-foot drift out of my driveway. The weathermen have been screwing with us for weeks, promising "warm ups" into the 20s or 30s, always 2-3 days away, but they never materialize. The few slightly warmer days we have had always brought snow and wind. This is my first year with a dedicated winter bike with studded tires and even that isn't getting a whole lot of use.

In my part of the Great White North, it's five celcius (forty F) and my corci are blooming. The weather guessers say it'll make ten C later.

Walked into the gas station the other day to get a coffee and the clerk said, "Spring is just around the corner" with a big smile. I said, "Well, if it is it's frozen." I was grumpy.

Went to bed, it was -12F. Woke up this morning, we were all the way up to -5F. Oh, and add 6" for that advisory we are under....but it doesnt matter when you already have 145" this season.

Spring and warm weather simply cannot come soon enough. Now is the time to do your major yearly overhaul on your bike. Maintenance time spent now will insure a summer of trouble free riding.

I'm on the hunt for a frame to do a fresh build. By the looks of the weather I'll have time to complete it.

Moved out of MI back n '78.
Living and riding in Tucson, AZ area.
Rode today and it was sunny and 80 degrees.
Care to ride this summer at 110 degrees with 2% humidity and no shade?

Brief warming tomorrow and Wednesday over freezing, then back down to single digits this weekend. Winter has got a long time to go here in MN and that's fine with me - the best skiing is the next 6 weeks!

If anyone would ever get around to asking me, the way I'd like to see the weather go is on Nov 1 go to 15F and stay there until April 15th then go to 75 and stay there until Nov 1 and repeat.

I have looked at the weather report for my area, and I'm ready for my Paul Revere Ride! I shall cycle forth shouting the news! "The 50's are coming! The 50's are coming!" It looks like we'll finally get a little sustained warm temps this week.

Must be nice. All the weatherpeeps on the local news said we would get 2" of snow last night. They were right. We got hit with 8".

First Sign of Hope

We actually hit 34F yesterday and are supposed to get near 40 today without any violent storms or stupidly high winds. Of course, I'm on call and won't be able to ride until tomorrow, but Wednesday is supposed to be decent too and Thursday in the 20s. Sadly, next weekend when I'm off, temps are back to the teens and single digits F for highs. That's still better than the weather on most of the rides I've had this year.

Com'on Spring !

We got 4.5" of snow yesterday! If this keeps up I'll need to break down and load a bike up on the wind trainer. There will be no vid as who wants to see a grown man cry?

Watched WGN weather at noon today, Tom Skilling showed the current and week ahead maps after the forecast, there is another of the Polar vortex systems headed down towards the midwest and then over and up through the NE, and the jet stream may well dip enough to zap the SE again.

The good possibility is that an unusual Pacific system may push some much needed moisture in the SoCal area next week. I'm just glad I bought some cold weather kit even if it isn't as grim here as many of you are getting whopped with lately.

Pittsburgh is supposed to hit 48 this week. If it is dry, I will be out on my first ride since early December.

Best news I've read this year on the Commuting Forum. At least Daylight Savings Time is predictable, unlike the weather for the rest of this Winter for as long as it lasts (meteorogically vs astronomically), though I'm resigned to it being wintry.

Got another 5" of snow yesterday. At this point I can't even see over the piles of snow left by our snow plow guy to see our backyard. I changed a rear tire on my Masi yesterday in my garage where it was 25F at the time. Froze my ass off but got it done. I am so done with this stuff.

We have seen a few peeks of Spring between snow and ice storms. Today and tomorrow will be like yesterday, sunny and mid to upper seventies.
