Five Years ago

Five years ago today I got a phone call from the oncologist saying that I didn't need any further treatment or follow up. Needless to say that even though it was only 9:30 in the morn I had a wee dram or two in celebration. Tonight, I'll have another wee dram or two in celebrating of being a survivor. Take care everybody.

Absolutely congrats.

A friend of mine is not so lucky. After about a year he's had a recurrence and is on his last legs as we speak. I've got to think that his crummy diet of cheap hot dogs and baloney sandwiches has been a factor in his not fighting it off. He's in his early '40s.

That's fantastic. As a double cancer survivor, I know how you feel about beating it. Let's hope you never see it return again.

Congratulations! My wife is a cancer survivor too, so I know what of you speak. We were literally on the edge, with a 50/50 recurrence probability.

Sword of Damocles, B-GONE!

I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this, but I really believe that if there is any silver lining in the cloud of cancer, it's that if you survive, you learn to appreciate every day just that much more.
