An Epic Ride

I've done all these climbs but over a period of several days! My goodness.......I did Cottonwood Pass on fresh legs and it was unrelenting and the bumps just beat me up. I can't believe he handled that one at the end of the day. Incredible ride!

Yikes! We drove over Cottonwood Pass back in '71 with our Olds Delta Custom. 455 cubic inches, 400hp and 515 lb/ft torque at sea level - and with the pedal down to the floor at 12000' we were down to 30mph in some places. Of course the car was loaded with camping gear and six people - and pulling a trailer... But riding a bike and trying to breathe?

We spent three weeks of that trip over 8000' elevation. Five days at Taylor Reservoir at 9400' before driving over Cottonwood pass. But still, King Kudos to someone who can ride a bike 230 miles at those elevations in one day!

Nice. Been way too long since I've ridden in Colorado. *sigh*

Sounds like a fun double-century-plus! I've never ridden in Colorado but it looks like one ride I should put on my list!

It doesn't say if he had support but someone took all those photos of him . . .
