FTP at 60 years old
Any experience in FTP improvements over time with proper training will be appreciated, I am a nuub here.
Personal status:
Stopped riding in 1999, from TT times and the early Power Tap hub, my FTP as measured by today's methods was estimated at around 380 watts in 1999, 175lbs, 5'11" tall.
Started riding again 2 1/2 years ago (12 years off the bike), but only recreational, 60 mile rides mostly in Z1,Z2 with a few old friends. Started training properly last year November, starting off with an FTP of 215watts. I trained to peak for a race this mid April, my FTP yesterday was 245 watts, on my Cycleops 420 indoor bike.
It's one of those situations where the older I get the better I was, but not giving up. I believe 380 watts is history for me, but it sure will be nice if I can at least hit 300 watts in a year or so.
Any experience from older folks, who raced previously, stopped riding for a long time and then came back will be appreciated.
