Yaaaay! No more ads.

After participating in BF for just over a year now I've had enough of the annoying advertisements. I've paid the subscription and no more ads. There might be some who say, "what took you so long?". My only excuse is that $12 costs more when you're paying with Loonies.

I've tried a few times, but they only accept paypal, which I refuse to use due to a demand they made a long time ago. They wanted my bank account number! No thank you.

I wont do paypal, either.

I have my paypal linked to a credit card - no bank account numbers required. So from that perspective it's no more risky than buying anything online with a credit card.

Wait, this forum has ads?

Firefox with NoScript and Adblock Plus addons would have saved you $12.00.

Back when they started up, they wanted to link right to your checking account/savings account. I viewed it as unreasonable, and they lost my business forever.

They have since changed - but too late for me.

Yeah, they're pretty much invisible to me too. Like growing up near the train tracks - you just don't notice them.

+1

Also, PayPal is horrible. Their security is medicre at best and good luck trying to get in touch with them if you experience any issues. Tried PayPal once, will never use that service again.

I use Firefox almost exclusively and tried the Ad block addon a couple of years ago. My experience was kind of like those with Paypal, wasn't impressed and haven't tried it since. Perhaps should check it out again.

The ads that just sit there are invisible to me. The ones that keep scrolling - a little annoying. Recently there have been a few with audio and if you have more than one tab open, you can have more than one advertisement audio playing. That was the straw for me. I decided to spend the $13.56 (cad) and sacrifice 3 coffees at Starbucks.

Good for you, supporting this place always appealed to me, I was a Red Star way back when I first joined, and I'm on my second Ti membership round, Watch your PayPal for the automatic renewal, check on your auto payment list if you do not want to do that option.

I didn't know they even asked for support! Guess I missed that notice.

Top of every page, click on the Elite Membership space and it will take you to the page for the Titanium membership.

Long time paypal user. Never any problems. However I have it linked to a bank account that has a very minimal balance --which I peridoically add funds to. If anyone got access to it, they wouldn't get much.

blakcloud 04-10-14 08:07 PM

I have been a member since 07 and I paid my 12 dollars about six months ago. Like you I thought why didn't i do this sooner.

One advantage of paying for this service rather than using Ad Blocker etc is it works on any device or computer that I log onto. The hospital I work at doesn't allow modifications to any software.

I don't regret getting this service.

Well, I think they should provide us this forum for free with no ads. Everything should be free and someone else should pay for it. I. Am. Canadian.
